Indeed. Face & Company were seriously copying the Minnie Funk Vibe some much at one moment that I'm surprised somebody didn't ask for royalties. It was a damn shame. The only way I could distinguish them was when Face would take lead on the slow jams. [Edited 8/5/07 20:24pm]

"Another Sad Love Song" by Toni Braxton (1993) "Breathe Again" by Toni Braxton (1993) "Take A Bow" by Madonna (1994) "Forbidden Love" by Madonna (1994) "Every Little Step" by Bobby Brown (1988) "In The Mood" by the Whispers (1987) "Dial My Heart" by the Boys (1988) "There's No Me Without You" by Toni Braxton (1996) "Diggin' On You" by TLC (1994) "Roses Are Red" by the Mac Band (1988) "Heat Of The Moment" by After 7 (1990) "Fairweather Friend" by Johhny Gill (1990) "I Don't Want To Know" by Gladys Knight (1994) I'd love a box set containing all these songs and many more. You have compiled an excellent list grasshopper, (especially the bayface solo cuts), but I must add some to your list: There She Goes My Kinda Girl (The 12" remix) you get when you buy Tender Love on CD It's No Crime Lady, Lady (I listened to this song non-stop when I was in Russia in 2004) Well, Alright The Lover in YOu (With LL Cool J, Howard Hewett and Jody Watley) Tender Lover (remix on Tender Lover) Love Saw it (With Karyn White) Love Makes Things Happen (with Pebbles) Lover and Friend I Love You Babe How Come, How Long (with Stevie Wonder) Two Occasions (with THe Deele) Saturday You Are So Beatiful Give U My Heart (with Toni Braxton, this song doesn't get enough love) Change the World (Live MTV Unplugged Version with Eric Clapton and Sheila E.) Songs written by Babyface: Love Shoulda Brought You Home (Toni Braxton) End of The Road (Boyz to Men) My, My, My (Johnny Gill) Can't Stop- Remix, After 7 I know there's many more, but he's so prolific, alll of them don't come to mind right now. When I heard he was at 3121, I was PISSED I did not go. I wouldn't have been the only woman fainting for Babyface at a Prince concert! Excellent Thread, by the way. "There She Goes" was produced by the Neptunes, I believe. PRINCE: Always and Forever

Shit, when I heard Jon B.'s "Someone To Love" I had no idea it was a duet with him and Jon B. because they sounded exactly alike. co - sign

I hate all those songs except for "Don't Be Cruel". As for "Superwoman", I hate that damn song with a passion. Babyface should have stayed with The Deele and continued making jams like "Body Talk", "Can U Dance", and "Hip Chic". . . [Edited 8/6/07 14:21pm] Andy is a four letter word.

Now wait a minute. Now you all know that we can't have a Babyface appreciation thread without mentioning his most mushiest, Butt-kissing, P***y-Whipped song ever written. "I Give Good Love" You know the lyrics. "I'll Buy Your Clothes, I'll Pay your Rent, I'll Cook Your Dinner too. Soon As I get Home From Work". Babyface can go somewhere with that song. I love my wife dearly. But as soon as I get home from work, I'm chilling in front of the TV watching ESPN!

I forgot about this one! You are right,LA and Face came up with some outstanding tracks for this project. My favorite is "One Love",a fast, catchy dance track that could have easily been a single.I also like "No Deposit,No Return" and the cool title track.

Babyface is a master at slow jams.I remember some of his songs with The Deele..."I'll Send You Roses","Just My Luck" and of course "Two Occassions"!! "Whip Appeal" (12" Version with the fingersnaps from the video) and "Where Will You Go" are my favorites, but all of Tender Lover's side 2 is slow-jam heaven. I just got the promo copy of Whip Appeal from ebay. It contains the "Performance Mix" of the track. It is the track used in the video. It is much better than the 12" or Ultimate Whip versions. Too bad I had 2 pay $65 for it. **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-

I'm surprised nobody mentioned it already, but for those of you who think Face fell off after "The Day," (which I will agree to some degree he did). You should try and find his unreleased album from 2004, "Love Story." It is simply amazing!
It's full of midtempo-to-slow-jams (there's no fast tracks on this one), but it brings back memories of the old Babyface circa "Tender Lover" and "For The Cool in You," without sounding dated at all. When I was on my college newspaper, my Managing Editor burned a copy for me (he downloaded it from somewhere) and I couldn't put it away!!!! This album was much better than the "Grown and Sexy" album he released two years later. The cuts are "God Must Love You," "Red Dress," "Together Forever," "Still My Boo," "Sentimental Reasons." If you don't have it, find it online. For others who have heard it, what do you think? [Edited 8/8/07 9:54am] [Edited 8/8/07 10:17am] [Edited 8/8/07 11:34am]

I LOVE "A Love Story". Red Dress, God Must Love You, The Getting To Know You, Makin' Love and God Must Love You are true masterpieces. I cannot find the physical cd of it. The few promos I have seen on ebay usually end up selling for $50 to $60. [Edited 8/9/07 9:32am] **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-

I wish there was a four-disc box set of the hit songs Babyface produced over his career, including his own work. If done right, that would worth the price of admission. THE TRAFFIC JAMMERS, The Org's house band: VAINANDY -- lead singer; NAJEE -- bass; THE AUDIENCE -- guitar; PHUNKDADDY -- rhythm guitar; ALEX de PARIS -- keyboards; Da PRETTYMAN -- keyboards; FUNKENSTEIN -- drums. I always thought that "Where Will You Go," was a little boring. It defintely has some Babyface's more understated vocals, but I always thought the lyrics were a little uninspired. "On Our Own," is cool, but not one of his best. When you hear stuff like Roni, Rock Witcha and Don't Be Cruel fromthe same era,it pales in comparison.
