Ticket Reselling. Whats Your View? My name is Simon and I am currently working on my dissertation looking at the secondary ticketing market. I would be grateful if you could spare a short amount of time to inform me of your opinions on all/any of these questions. Thankyou.
1) What are your views of people selling concert tickets on auction sites such as eBay? 2) Should the Government legislate against concert ticket touting? 3) Through auctions tickets sell to the highest bidder. Is it fair that only the richest are able to attend the events? 4) One way for the industry to compete would be to get in the game and sell some of the best tickets through auctioning instead. This could mean higher costs for the better seats as is the case through brokers such as Ticketmaster or auctions such as eBay. How would you feel about paying more money into the industry/artist than to the third party? eg. There is a feeling that the artist would be money grabbing whereas the third party is providing a service that is worth more. 5) How would you feel if reselling was made illegal meaning that, in theory, you could not sell you ticket on to a friend if you, for example, broke your leg and could not attend? Is this the same as finding a friend through communities on the internet, such as eBay, that allow you a better chance of finding someone to purchase your ticket from you? 6) Any final thoughts?

i think it's a shame that people try to take advantage of this stuff
personally, i can understand people wanting to sell tickets that they can't use because something unexpected came up. what i find disgusting is people buying 20 tickets when they really only need 2. just buying stuff to sell them at a profit. for example, i got 4 tickets to see prince in london on sept 12+13 but due to starting a new job that i really wanted on sept 1st i'm unable to go. so i'm forced to resell my tickets now but i would never charge a person more than they cost me. what's the point? some people just want to make a quick buck out of everything. it's pathetic. and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

I think it ought to be first come first served...like it used to be! At least if you camped out (meaning you were a devoted fan), you were guaranteed a good ticket. Things got messed up when they allowed phone orders and made folks in line do a lottery to get back in line. Then the internet followed allowing anyone to get a ticket and sell that ticket for high prices. I don't believe in paying astonomical amounts for a ticket. The only ones that will pay crazy amounts are the hardcore fans that would be the ones camping out for tix to begin with.
Now, if one has money, they can get a decent seat at a concert and not even be that big of fan. think it's very unfair. Even Brokers now sell tix that and don't have to do anything to get these them in the first place. I am grateful that certain artists and performers allow you to cut in line with presales and what not by joining their membership club. Still gouging their hardcore, but at least there seems a fairness to the madness. Christian Zombie Vampires
