he never had the crossover hit he needed. he had the one ballad that pop-charted, but he never had a string of uptempo joints AND ballads on a cohesive album that would've had "middle america" checkin' for him. so he's been stuck in r & b purgatory.

I think he was big but maybe too old and too crooner to sell more. This type of artist makes "straight to the ladies" music. Guys don't buy Ginuwine stuff. The same happens to Trey songz.

He didn't make consistent albums which were all over the place in sound and style although he had a body...

Do you mean big in crossover succes or big in his fields (black audience)?

Because in the R&B field, he was bigger the Usher. I remember back in the mid-late 90's and early part of this decade, he ruled the black crowd. He was all over urban radio and BET, more so then Usher and Joe and Case and the likes.

I agree with Rhondab! R & B and the state of popular music has been nearly dead for a long time now. Sad! sad

Cuz his big face gonna go and stop workin with Timbaland.

After the critical thumbs up to 100% Ginuwine which definitley overshadowed his first album, he felt he needed to produce his own music and work with other producers. After that Ginuwine fell. 100% was a great album. I must have kept that in my changer for about 2 months straight until I forced myself to put it away. The last track the remake of She's Out Of My Life is a tearjerker.

CORRECTION: Timbo stop working with Ginuwine. Timbo was at a point in his career where he couldn't make time for him anymore.

The last song I remember seeing on BET was Ginuwine featuring Big Tymers (although it seemed like the opposite) "Hell Yeah"

24's like hell, yeah
