It seems Michael's always been a victim of his own success. Thriller was just so huge that its shadow has lingered over everything he's done, and I think he's always felt like he needs to reach that level again (which is impossible).

What I think would be great for him and the world would be to do something similar to what Prince did with Musicology. Strip it down. Don't worry about the teen fans. Come back with a vengeance and remind everyone, including yourself, just WHY you are a legend and one of the baddest performers of all time. Despite all the legal chaos, I think most people want to like MJ again. All he has to do is give them a reason to, and remind them why they liked him in the first place. Not only did this approach give Prince a commercial boost, it solidified his legacy and started an entirely new chapter in his career. It would be amazing to see Michael "come back to Earth" and do the same thing.

nod I wish Michael would visit this site and read these posts!

Not a big MJ fan, but he takes his time with things while Madonna and Prince rush things out. Perhaps

Prince and Madonna are able to release music on a regular basis because they're inspired. They enjoy making music and performing. With Michael,I don't think it's simply a case of him preferring to "take his time".I don't think he has the passion, the desire, anymore.

I wish these threads could be sent over to the MJ fan sites to show some of the over-excited teens over there a considered view of what is happening and what needs to happen in MJ World.

Some of them actually think the album is coming out this year and will be bigger than Thriller !

Michael has liver problems?

It shouldn't be an issue. Tina toured till she was 60, The ROlling Stones are still on tour and god knows how old they are. Michael is still yet to turn 50. If he cans till dance and lip syn he can atleast make it look like the old Michael.

His US fanbase is falling. Are they still crazy fr him in Europe?

Michael is known worldwide. Even people who do not speak English know his name and know his songs and what he is about. It is strange yet true. He is HUGE outside of the USA. NO other musician has topped his success.
So if he tours again, people would go see him for sure!

People in the USA are so hung up on what the media feeds them sigh

Of course he could sell out arenas.
He has been around for ages.
He is a legend with an incredible music history.
Like Prince & McCartney & the Stones his status is such
that any tour would sell out.
He should tour & forget recording.
When he releases a cd it is always compared to Thriller.
He can't win.
So forget a new cd - all that does it lets the media get their knives out.
Go on tour & connect with the people.

There I did it.
I tried not to.
I gave career advice to MJ.
I am such an idiot.
lol

every cd he has released since thriller has been compared to thriller. like michael said himself, u can always say forget thriller but people never will. so i don't think he should not release a cd just because of people will compare it to thriller.

I know Michael is one of the hugest stars worldwide but his last 2 albums didn't sell well compared to his previous works(i.e. Thriller).
Working up a purple sweat.

I agree. People are judging Michael based on his new album, and it's not even out yet. lol

Give the man some space. If it comes out and it's good, people will buy it. I'm crossing my fingers, though, that it's not another Invincible.
