What are some good NON-Prince Bootlegs? We all know Prince has the best bootlegs of any artists. Are there any other R&B artists out there with good bootleg CD's? They can be old or new. I never heard of any other R&B artist having any bootlegs except Prince.

David Bowie and Fleetwood Mac/Stevie Nicks also are the best bootleg artists!!
I have nearly all of Fleetwood Mac/Stevie Nicks/Lindsey Buckingham bootlegs!! and now i am in the process of downloading David Bowie boots!! Also Peter Gabriel, when I can get hold of them, as well as Dire Straits!! Thank God for torrents!!!!

There's a great Stevie Wonder show from Brighton '73 out there. Highly recommend that.
I also have at least 2 soundboards of Marvin Gaye, and a handful of P-Funk. One of the most famous P-Funk boots, from Rochester 1971, has been officially released. It's cool. Main artists I collect are the Who & Neil Young but I have rare recordings of everything from John Coltrane & Miles Davis to the most obscure punk & noise bands you could imagine. Torrents are fantastic, even though they do take away some of the mystery & intrigue of seeking out rarities.

Bob Dylan had the first bootleg album and has a number of amazing boots.
Anyone even remotely interested should check this site out http://www.bobsboots.com/

I also found some amazing James Brown footage on DVD in the last year. A couple TV appearances from 71 with Bootsy & Catfish Collins in the band that are unbelievable, and a 1974 British TV documentary.
A quick look at one of the trackers shows gigs up by War, Rufus Thomas, Al Green, Solomon Burke, Ray Charles, Corinne Bailey Rae, Aretha, Joss Stone, Lauryn Hill... the stuff's out there if you know where to look. Prince seems to have more than most, though. For some reason that mentality of obsessively documenting everything spreads to the fans too.

I think The Beatles have more studio bootlegs than Prince - yes, honestly. The majority of bootlegs may be like a hundred versions of the same song, but if you're measuring quantity, they have the most.
However, I'd say that Prince definitely has the most live bootlegs.

Tori Amos, of course...
There are soooo many covers she does on tour that it's impossible not to get them. (she usually covers Prince, Madonna, Cyndi, G.Michael... even Bon Jovi!!)And she's aware of and agrees with bootlegs as long as the sound is good for the expensive price fans pay... (she said that in an interview) Love her!! "America is a continent..."

I would venture that Springsteen is the most bootlegged artist of all-time (studio, live, DVD, you name it).
Most of the studio boots that covered sessions through Human Touch were put out of business by the Sony box-set Tracks in 1998. Very few worthwhile studio tracks escaped that comp. Live is another story. A lot of his fans swear by the radio broadcasts from the Darkness on the Edge of Town tour (1978), but I prefer the later stuff (Tunnel of Love Express Tour, 1992-93 Tour, Solo Acoustic Tour, Rising Tour and Devils & Dust Tour). The Solo Acoustic jaunt (in support of The Ghost of Tom Joad) and Devils & Dust Tour featured a lot of interesting between-song talk. I would recommend the following DVDs: The Tunnel of Love Express Tour Europe compilation Plugged & Raw (Unedited version of the MTV The SkyDome show from the Rising Tour (You can see me in that one! ) [Edited 7/29/07 0:38am]
