Roberta Flack - "Blue lights in the basement"

I`ve finally bough some of her albums, and this is my favorite so far.

The opening track, "Why don`t you move in with me" is beautiful, and "Soul deep" is also a good, up-tempo gem.

Anyone else like this album?

I have this album on vinyl music

The opening track "Why Don't You Move In With Me" is quite possibly my favorite Roberta Flack song.I like the way her vocals fade out at the end,and the piano takes over music this is soft-disco at it's best!

I had a feeling you would respond to this thread wink

I can`t seem to get into her music as much as i would like, many of her songs are just to slow for my liking.

Yeah, her songs are really slow, for the most part. You won't find alot of uptempo stuff on her albums. But be sure to check out her 1975 album 'Feel Like Makin' Love'....it's a sexy, mellow album with alot of beautiful songs music

My dad and I have never been as close as a father and son should have been. But the one thing that he gave me, was his taste in music. He had everything, from Miles to a group called the Players Association. "Blue Lights In The Basement", was the one album that I remember, being played every Sunday morning. He and my mom loved to clean the house with the music playing. This was in heavy rotation. My favorites are, "After You", 25th of Last December", and "Fine Day". I recently purchased the cd version of this album and every time that I play it, I remember those Sunday mornings, 26 years ago... Thanks Dad.

Funny how the three of us are talking about this album, and not one person has mentioned the hit single "The Closer I Get To You" with Donny Hathaway lol

While it was a great song, for me,that song has been played to death and the album's material is a lot deeper than that one song. Of course, one does not realize this untiil listening to the entire CD. "After You" and 25th of Last December", speak to me on a much deeper level than, "Closer". I kind of perfer, "Where is the love", over "Closer". But, that is just my opinion.

I like the title of the album. Haven't listen to any of her music in a while, but I'll check it out.
