I'll echo Astral Weeks - a timeless, jazz-folk masterpiece. And Philosopher's Stone is a SUPERB album, and a great recommendation. I'd also add that Veedon Fleece, St Dominic's Preview, Tupelo Honey, It's Too Late To Stop Now, Poetic Champions and Avalon Sunset are all worth checking out. Oh, and get TB Sheets too. Definetely 'Astral Weeks'-one of the greatest albums of all time. His new stuff isn't half as good unfortunately. Shapeshifter has pretty much hit the nail on the head of what albums to get but I'll also add 'No Guru, No Method, No Teacher'. You might like to start with 'The Best Of...' just to maybe ease you in. There's Joy In Expatriation. | |

All great suggestions so far. His catalogue is so vast that it can be confusing but the trip is sublime. I actually love the Greatest Hits volume two and have always felt it could have been released as an actual cd on it's own (except for the annoying Go Tell Me Ma). I was listentening to it last night and it is just perfection to me. Philosopher's Stone and Astral Weeks are two of my favourites.
