man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

You know the band played instrumentation for the Temptations' "Let Your Hair Down", don't you? biggrin

woot! Love Gwen Dickey. One of those rare groups that does ballads just as effectively as they do uptempo. For me, this was Norman Whitfield's best production. He also produced Stargard who sounded a lot like Rose Royce.

Norman Whitfield is the MAN! headbang The fact he wrote and produce for so many from soul and funk is insurmontable. cool

No! I didn't know that! See, this is what I'm talking about. It's a shame how great bands from the 70s are underrated and simply didn't get their "just due". Todays up and coming artists only have to have several hits on the top ten and it's like without any depth or true artistry, they're like the best thing ever. It's annoying as hell!! mad

True, back then, artists had to work TWICE as hard to get ahead. But because of pro-tools and just "pure luck", all the artists got to do is sing on a commercial song and they got a hit. That's why I appreciate artists of the past hence the singer in my avatar. fro

I saw Rose Royce a few years ago in concert and I'm sure this must have been a "fake" version of the group. It was one girl and two guys. They were "singing" to pre-recorded tracks disbelief I was so disappointed.I had seen Rose Royce in the past and they always came out with a full band (horn players, guitarists, drummer, etc).Apparently, there is a fake version of Rose Royce on the road.Beware.

lol I agree! I'm an old skool chick ANYWAY! If I'm listening to what's on the radio, best believe it's an old skool r & b station. You know, what amazes me about MTV nowadays, folks say unless the artist gets his/her video played on MTV, they won't have a hit. See, MTV has an incredible knack for turning shit into a hit. Stuff from back in the day was rear, raw, and authentic. Gosh! I miss when music like what Rolls Royce made dominated along with other old skool groups. sad

One of their greatest hits sets - I think the one with a picture of a rose on the front - is fake. lol They're all resung. barf It plays on some of the Yahoo stations.
