“It’s always funny to me when people use the phrase, ‘Best guitar player in the world’. There are too many variables such as technique, uniqueness, emotional investment in the notes, etc. But If I had to pick one, it would be Tommy Emmanuel. Watching him perform can be a study in artistic and virtuosic human achievement.”

For me it would have to Jimi Hendrix. His style was so unique I got the impression he never actually learned to play it properly, he just could !!!!!. confuse

Yeah. me too. I think he was self-taught, but he must have learned a holy hell of a lot quicker than I initially thought. I mean, this guy was the reaspn why "Fenders" have gotten so popular over the years.

As good as this guy is, he just doesn't move me at all! I prefer players with a little more soul! He deserves all the praises you give him, but I just don't dig him. This whole topic is completely subjective anyway! biggrin

my idea of soul is players like, Hendrix, Santana, Clapton, Stevie ray, BB King, Prince (of coures) but for me tommy has more soul than any of them ive seen him 5 times now and he never fails to bring the house down, one man out there with an acoustic guitar on his own captureing a whole venues attention and drawing everyone into the music is something reall special to be part of, the man is beyond compare

Well, looks like we are on the same page because you mentioned just about all of my top favorites! But, I've always considered myself to be open minded! Can you post here or drop me an org note with a list of some MUST HAVE song titles by this guy and I'll check him out even further! Thanks!!! biggrin
