Devoted Spirits is a band made up of former members of Earth Wind and Fire.A few years ago,they released their first album 'A Tribute To Earth Wind and Fire',an impressive collection of EW&F covers,with a few new songs that are superb.Now they are back with their second CD 'The Answer' which is already available in Japan.There are plans for a U.S.release later this year but if you can't wait,you can pick up an import copy at Amazon for $27.99.I have to say,these guys are doing EW&F better than EW&F these days! This album is like any of the classic EW&F albums from the 70s....complete with spiritual themes and uplifting lyrics,interesting interludes between some of the tracks,and a cool,jazzy,funky sound with no hip-hop influences or silly cameos.Kinda makes me wish that the classic EW&F line-up from the 70s (Larry Dunn,Al McKay,Freddie White,etc) could reunite,put their differences aside,get their asses back in the studio and create another masterpiece.
