first...just a tid bit of info. His REAL last name is Zimmerman. His son, Jacob, is the lead singer of the Wallflowersadn was quoted as saying thet he didn't want to ride his father's coattails. I feel if that was true, whouldn't he have gone by his real last name of Zimmerman?...if at least to audibly distance himself from his father.
But to answer you question...his last release won some grammy's...that doesn;'t always mean much to everyone...but at times it does. It's called "Modern Times"...he has another record coming out aupposedly in Oct called "Dylan" http://www.bobdylan.com/m.../main.html he did win some grammy's ...dern times [Edited 7/25/07 19:29pm]

You could start with 2006 ~ Modern Times and work your way back. It is an outstanding album which I believe will become a classic alongside many, many others of Mr. Dylan's. Music is the language of the spirit. It opens the secret of life bringing peace, abolishing strife. --Kahlil Gibran

Hey thanks!, think I'll get "Modern Times", like the cover too, "Time Out of Mind" sounds pretty cool aswell, just been listening to samples on Amazon.
I had no idea Bob Dylan's son was singer for the Wallflowers, have to check them out. We're here, might as well get into it.

Time out of Mind. There are three sides to every story. My side, your side, and the truth. And no one is lying. Memories shared serve each one differently

He legally changed his name before he became famous, so you can bet his name would appear as Dylan on Jakobs birth certificate. Why shouldn't he use his own name that he's had his whole life? I would recommend Oh Mercy, Time Out Of Mind, Love and Theft, Modern Times and any of the Bootleg Series releases which are archival but still brilliant releases so pretty much anything you can get your hands on . Just as an aside I've seen his whole catalogue including Time Out Of Mind for ridiculously cheap recently.

I would definitely go for Time Out Of Mind. A classic imo.
I didn't really feel Modern Times. (Little Richard enters the stage)

Blood on the tracks and Blond on Blond are his absolute best.
His last two releases are very good too.

Love and Theft (2001) and Modern Times (2006) are two masterpieces, the two best roots-rock albums of this century; buy them now!

Time Out Of Mind.
Modern Times is overrated. It's got a great sound and some witty lines, but the songs don't bury themselves in your head the way his best stuff does. I can't imagine anyone wanting to cover anything on that album. TOOM on the other hand has songs like Not Dark Yet and Trying To Get To Heaven which can genuinely go toe to toe with his best work. “The man who never looks into a newspaper is better informed than he who reads them, inasmuch as he who knows nothing is nearer to truth than he whose mind is filled with falsehoods and errors.”

Dylan is a master lyricist. There is no one like him. I believe he is untouchable in that area. Even though Prince is my favorite musician, he doesn't even come close to Bob when it comes to lyrics.

Look into it and he did legally change hiname mid-late 60's. I digress. Jakob's last name really is Dylan. My bad. Thanks for letting me know.
