A source told the New York Post newspaper: "Prince has been suggesting that Michael play a sequence of unplugged concerts in Las Vegas just Michael and the microphone. No gimmicks, no costume changes, no smoke or mirrors, just his voice."

Screw whether this is true or not, here's an interesting question.
hmmm How many current "artists" do you think could successfully pull this off?

Talk about thinning the herd. smile

doh! My bad. I didn't put my question in the form of a fakery...

That story is faker than the number of current artists that could play a sequence of unplugged concerts in Las Vegas just them and the microphone. No gimmicks, no costume changes, no smoke or mirrors, just their voice.

...That's better. wink

Fake or Not.. I've been saying the same thing for years...

But I also am not too optimistic that Mike would do it..

But if he did.. everyone here... would be a fan.. Mike is that gifted.. with the Voice and Natural Stage presence.. no production just Th Songs and the Voice...

This is exactly what I've been saying Michael should do!! He should do an acoustic tour and release an Unplugged CD.Put the spotlight back on his VOICE! Put the focus back on all those amazing, melodic songs he used to do.Remind people of why they became fans in the first place!!

That new album he's working on...with songs by Ne-Yo and will.i.am?? barf Throw it in the garbage. That's not what the world wants. They would rather see him sitting on a stool, singing REAL songs like "Human Nature" and "I Can't Help It",without all the distractions and nonsense. This is the only way he could make any type of genuine comeback, imo.

This is not news to any MJ fan. We have been wanting Michael to do an acoustic set for YEARS. There have been many threads on MJ boards about this very subject. Fans have even made-up their own "wish" set-list that they want Michael to perform. I think that it would be wonderful and I truly think that Michael has been thinking about doing that very thing. Michael is very shy and an acoustic set is a very intimate setting. I just wonder if he could be that intimate with an audience. He definently has the charisma, stage presence and talent. It would be mind-blowing if he ever decided to do it. IMO, the person who wrote this article has either heard that Michael is thinking about doing an acoustic set and they decided to throw Prince in the mix or the person who wrote the story is doing some wishful thinking and hoping-just as all of us are.

Rod Stewart did an acoustic set many years ago and it totally revitalized his career. The same could happen to Michael.

Are you talking old-skool fans or Fans from the Bad/Dnagerous era? Because some of the Bad/Dangerous era fans would rather Michael mime the whole of his concerts as long as he continued to do the moonwalk and kick his legs. Alot those fans see Michael as a dancer first and foremost rather than a singer.

It would be great for him to do an unplugged show, it was a great shot in the arm for other acts in the past like Clapton and Dylan whilst getting them a new audience and I think it would do the same for MJ.

However, it's not even clear if he can sing anymore and the fact that he seems to have avoided doing anything recently but turn up to collect awards whilst shouting "I love you" seems to back that up. It looks like his confidence has gone to me.

Some of you are living in dream land. Michael can't sing live anymore. He's been struggling with his voice ever since the Bad tour and it's got progressively worse ever since. If Michael could still sing live, he would. You wouldn't be able to stop him. His ego alone would compel him to show it off. Why hide something glorious? Up until the mid 80s Michael had no coyness about singing. James Brown, Diana Ross and others would call him on stage and he'd grab the mic and kill it. Because he could. Do you think the pleasure he took in that has gone? Please. He'd love to grab a mic now and rock the house with that awesome voice again. Just on an ego level if nothing else. He doesn't do it now because he can't.
Think about it for a second. Michael used to describe himself as a "stage addict". The stage was his home. So why does he avoid it like the plague now? The answer is obvious. He doesn't have the confidence or belief anymore. It's probably the weight of people expecting a turnaround that makes it worse for him.

Oh and yes, this story is hardcore bullshit. lol

Whehther he wants to sing live or not is up to him, however to say that MJ can't sing anymore is absurd and a really overbroad statement , these comments always make me laugh, how would you explain his voice on speechless since it starts and closes acapella , he sings without music on that song and his voice still amazing and on point, and what about butterfiles and other gems like Break of dawn , the man still can sing, will.I.am said recently that Mj still sings like a bird and his unrecorded voice is better than the recorded one, and to be honest Mj is maybe sick of singing live , he has been singing since the age of 5 , people have to put that into consideration, he is not a singing machine that never stops . people should give him a break, If he can sing in the studio he can do it live on stage at anytime..peroid...

He canNOT abandon the dance. He's famous for his gift of Dance also. He showcases his voice in concerts - Human Nature, Man In The Mirror, She's Out of My Life, etc.

I didn't say he should abandon the dance wink I said he should abandon that album he's working on.Do an acoustic tour....put the focus back on his VOICE! Play fan favorites like "I Can't Help It" and "Human Nature"...songs that everyone loves. After all he's been through the past few years,he needs to ease his way back to the public.A knock-em-dead acoustic performance could do this.He should do an MTV Unplugged, then release it on CD and go on an acoustic tour, playing intimate, smaller venues.Keep it simple....no drama,no distractions,no gimmicks,no games....just the VOICE.This project would be so much more genuine than another over-produced album featuring contribitions from the likes of Chris Brown and Ne-Yo.Working with second-rate wannabees isn't gonna get him back to the top.
