THE NEW KELLY CLARKSON CD

I will be the first to admit that before I heard bout the Hoopla bout this new release, with Clive getting all cranky, I have probably never heard a Clarkson song.

I don't listen to radio except NPR and only watched AI here and there cause of Sanjaya. Yes I like to laugh at others.

So being bored and a bit drunk last tuesday I thought of dear old Kelly and the controversy and figured why not, another beer and a good hearty laugh at some PR created "pop star."

Little did I know that the crow sandwich was already being made after one listen. Its by no means a masterpiece, but I will say that she has written some pretty strong songs. A bit Alanisish, think jagged pill, but over all her vocals work with the material. Hell there is actual depth in some of the lyrics.

The cd may have legs, cause its pretty decent. Kinda like the last Pink cd.

I'm actually impressed.

I heard that she had major disagreements with Clive Davis when making this CD.She recently went to the media, blaming him for the albums's poor sales, bluntly saying "He's too old to know what my fans would like!" eek She also had to cancel a planned summer tour because of low ticket sales.Looks like her career is going through a rough phase.

Not quite. He went to the media publicly dissing her decision to write all the songs on there rather than use some "hits". One song offered to her was even from one of Lindsay Lohan's old albums. As in, already recorded and ON her album! (Makes me wonder how often this happens).

She only spoke out after Clive spoke out.

Clive Davis makes me sick. All he sees is dollar signs rolleyes He doesn't want his artists to be unique and to find their own identity. His strategy is to call up a bunch of commercial songwriters and bring in the big superstar cameos.

I still haven't listened to it, but my 12 year old sister is always raving about how cool the new Kelly C. songs are...Sometimes the little brat has some really good taste in music

He uses the same tired approach for all of his artists, which results in glossy, faceless albums in which the artists don't get to be themselves. He even managed to turn the legendary Carlos Santana into a trend-chasing pop star disbelief
