COOLEST CARTOON ROCKERS!!!!!!!

i was going to start a thread about this yesterday but someone beat me to it and did an actual article. eek

Any four-year-old knows that cartoons rock, but which animated musicians have literally rocked the hardest? These 10 'toons prove that two dimensions are all you need to top the charts.

watch videos here

10.Cartman excels at being South Park's most obnoxious fourth-grader, but he's fallen short of his lifelong dream of being its resident pop star. Not that he hasn't tried. After the failure of boy band Fingerbang in 2000, Cartman found his true calling with Faith + 1's deeply passionate love songs to the Lord Almighty. Sadly, the group disbanded after only one episode, but we're praying hard for a reunion next season.

9.Crazy Frog
When He Rocked: 2005-present

Not since Kermit has an amphibian rocked so hard. Crazy Frog's career began with a bang when his trance cover of hi-energy '80s hit 'Axel F' shot to the top of the charts in six countries. Crazy was also a fashion innovator – he was hitting the town commando long before the Brit Bunch. As a result, early videos showing hints of the Frog's genitalia were censored, thanks to the complaints of overanxious parents.

8.Jem & the Holograms
When They Rocked: 1985-88

Record store owner by day, pink-haired pop diva by night, Jem and her Holograms meant more to '80s pre-teen girls than most of their flesh-and-blood MTV counterparts. With her glamorous style and truly outrageous pop tunes, only 2-D riot grrrls the Misfits came close to stealing Jem's thunder.

7.Dethklok
When They Rocked: 2006-present

Just like their 3-D death-metal contemporaries, the members of Dethklok are loud, rude, usually intoxicated sociopaths. But the stars of Adult Swim's 'Metalocalypse' have also appeared on a major motion-picture soundtrack ('Saw III') and have an album coming out this fall that each of their 125,000 MySpace friends will likely buy twice. Kind of makes 'Heavy Metal' look like 'My Little Pony.'

6.Fat Albert and the Junkyard Gang
When They Rocked: 1972-1985

Fat Albert and his crew were the kings of socially conscious cartoon rock. For 13 years, the band picked through trash in their inner-city neighborhood to make their instruments – just so they'd have a funkadelic groove to complement the life lessons in their lyrics. Now that's what we call D.I.Y.

5.Bart Simpson
When He Rocked: 1989-present

Lisa is a jazz-sax virtuoso, and Homer dabbled in barbershop harmonies, but everyone knows that Bart is the real musician of the Simpson clan. His "rep for being rude" resulted in 1990's 'Do the Bartman,' a poppy rap tune that was (no joke) co-written by Michael Jackson and topped the charts in three countries.

4.Josie & the Pussycats
When They Rocked: 1970-74

The Go-Go's, L7 and every other female rock group in history has Josie & the Pussycats to thank for leading the charge. The feline power trio looked adorable, rocked hard and still had time to solve crimes between gigs. A limited-edition CD of the group's songs was released in 2001, shortly after Rachel Leigh Cook donned Josie's ears for a live-action big-screen adaptation.

3.The Archies
When They Rocked: 1968-69

The Archies were the Beatles of virtual bands -- innovators whose sugary hooks and catchy choruses spawned a legion of inferior imitators (The Bedrock Rockers, Jabberjaw). The Riverdale High quintet scored several hits in the late '60s, but 'Sugar, Sugar'-- the No. 1 song of 1969 -- remains the band's claim to fame.

2.Gorillaz
When They Rocked: 1998-present

Picking up where the Groovie Ghoulies left off, the demonically funky Gorillaz live every day like it's Halloween and party like every night is New Year's Eve. Fueled by a chart-topping mix of rock, rap, and pop, the quartet has sold more than 10 million albums, collaborated with De La Soul and Madonna, and sold out a five-night stand at the Apollo Theater. The group's swan song will be a feature-length film, which starts production later this year.

1.The Chipmunks
When They Rocked: 1958–present

Most bands would kill to have a career half as successful as the Chipmunks. During their 50-year, 39-album run, Alvin, Simon and Theodore outlived doo-wop, New Wave, gangsta rap and grunge, earning two No. 1 singles and five Grammys along the way. The squeaky-voiced trio's cred will rise even higher this December, when a live-action film based on the group hits theaters. Who knew rodents had such staying power?

Jem & the Holograms
Josie & the Pussycats
the Archies
Alvin & the Chipmunks

are my favourites!!!!! woot!

They were different in that they were a REAL band turned into a cartoon unlike the examples that began as cartoons in the above article.

OWL JOLSON! Tis nobody funkier!

I love to sing-a/About the moon-a and a June-a and the Spring-a/I love to sing-a/About a sky of blue-a/Or a tea for two-a/Anything-a with a swing-a to an "I love you-a,"/I love to, I love to sing!

razz

TRUE Cartooners remember this classic!

I Love to Singa depicts the story of a young owlet who wants to sing jazz instead of indulging in his parents more traditional and stodgy tastes, such as Drink to Me Only with Thine Eyes to piano accompaniment. In this respect, the plot is somewhat derivative of Al Jolson's film The Jazz Singer. The young lad (voiced by Tommy Bond, best known as "Butch" of Our Gang (Little Rascals) fame) is kicked out of the house by his disciplinarian violinist father (voiced by Billy Bletcher), and runs off to enter a radio amateur contest. The boy (billing himself as "Owl Jolson", a play on famous jazz singer Al Jolson) wins the contest, but only after his strict father sees his son's potential and allows him to freely sing jazz.

Hey, I liked Jabberjaw! Sure they were rip-offs, but they were pretty good. Think of them as the Basic Black of cartoon rip-offs.

Um....helloooo...the Smurfs were known to throw down too, you know. I used to wear the hell out of their Christmas album. I think I still have the cassette of it.....either I have it or my brother has it. I hope we haven't lost it. We really did used to have a ball with that album.

If Marvel had that idea today, they should totally record a fake CD and sell it with one of Dazzler's books. They could still do it. Just make it a one-shot special and have someone like Anastacia donate some b-sides.
