Very Old Song of the Day: "And When I Die" by Blood, Sweat and Tears Actually, I just read online that this song was written by Laura Nyro when she was 17 years old. This is a great song that popped into my head tonight for some reason. I've always liked this song.
And When I Die, Written by Laura Nyro But Sung By Blood Sweat and Tears (and Peter, Paul and Mary, too) I'm not scared of dying and I, don't really care if it' s peace you find in dying, well then, let the time be near If it's peace you find in dying, well then dying time is near just bundle up my coffin, 'cause it's cold way down there, I hear that it's cold way down there, yeah crazy cold, way down there And when I die, and when I'm gone there'll be, one child born in this world to carry on, to carry on [Piano Solo] Now troubles are many there as deep as a well I can swear there ain't no Heaven but I pray there ain't no hell Swear there ain't no Heaven and I'll pray there ain't no hell but I'll never know by livin' only my dyin' will tell, yes only my dyin' will tell, oh yeah, Only my dyin' will tell And when I die, and when I'm gone there'll be, one child born, in this world to carry on, to carry on yeah yeah [Instrumental Solo] Give me my freedom for as long as I be All I ask of livin' is to have no chains on me All I ask of livin' is to have no chains on me And all I ask of dyin' is to go natrually, only wanna go naturally Here I go! hey hey Here come the devil right behind look out children, here he come here he come, heyyy Don't wanna go by the devil don't wanna go by the demon don't wanna go by satan don't wann die uneasy just let me go naturally And when I die, and when I'm dead dead and gone there'll be one child born, in our world to carry on, to carry on [Edited 7/22/07 23:25pm] RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

I just read online that Laura also wrote "Stoned Soul Picnic" and "Wedding Bell Blues". Never knew that, but I like both songs. RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

Well let's get with it young lady...
...Eli and the Thirteenth Confession You can add Eli's Coming (covered by Three Dog Night) and Stoney End (covered by Barbara Streisand) to her list. tA Tribal Disorder http://www.soundclick.com...dID=182431 "Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn. I just saw Blood, Sweat And Tears live yesterday. I didn't know what to expect, since I didn't even recall any of their songs. I knew just one of the songs they played, Spinning Wheel (might not be the actual title of the song, but anyway). The band was really good, a tight drummer, a funky bassist, cool horn section, teh geetarrrr-man and the vocalist was in good shape too. It is not known why FuNkeNsteiN capitalizes his name as he does, though some speculate sunlight deficiency caused by the most pimpified white guy afro in Nordic history.

I think "Spinning Wheel" is the actual title of the song. RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

Did you recognize the lead singer as being David Clayton Thomas? (or former Three Dog Night vocalist Chuck Negron) Word has it that there are possibly 2 versions of the band out there. tA Tribal Disorder http://www.soundclick.com...dID=182431 "Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn.
