Which Version of LOTR are you buying?

3 are coming out between this coming Tuesday & mid-November. So to the geeks of the org, will it be the theatrical release, the extended version with scenes & new music actually put back into the film & not as "extras," or the ultra-special edition with the bookends & artwork & all that?

My VHS copy of the theatrical release is already on the way thanks to Best Buy jumping the gun (along with the new Clash of the Titans DVD), but I will be buying the expanded set without the bookend things in November on DVD.

Okaayyy. Calm down. You are right, one day the companies will push the prices so high I won't be able to pay anymore. The reason they will give will be people downloading movies and music illegally over the web. (sigh) rolleyes

Yes, I do pay for movies, as the storebought brands are higher quality presentations, include more extras & better artwork than anything you can buy off the streets or download off the Web. I couldn't care less about the "ethics" of the situation, because I think it's unethical for stores to charge so much for movies & music. I'm more concerned about the packaging & presentation.

Well I myself don't give a fart on a finlays flying fuckin photocopier about artwork and presentation

I dont buy a cd for artwork, it is for music.
Movies are there so you can watch the movie, not stare at the bloody cover for 2 hours.

if you want artwork go buy a painting

So I suppose that for a movie like this, you'd download not only the movie itself, but the movie with the commentary track, the special features, documentary, deleted scenes, "Easter Eggs," etc.?

What sort of picture quality can you get on the net and how long does it take to download?

Average size for a DVD you can downlaod from the net is usually about 716MB but can run up to 1 GIG for a single disc. Download time depends on your connection speed.
If you can download at 100kps, you will have your movie in less than a few hours.
Quality is slighyly less than DVD but netter than watching your TV. I can't really see the difference between DCD quality and the copy, it is a slightly smaller file size though so obviously the quality will be slightly less...

Yep, I'm really looking forward to the second one! I bet this one's gonna be even better than the first one.
Can't wait to see Gandalf coming back.

...the only thing I think that sucks, is that we have to wait a whole bloody year between the movies! Wouldn't a half year be enough?
And to answer the question I got the 2DVD Set. Enough for me. I guess I will rent the november edition to see the additional scenes, but not buy it.

BTW, I wonder if Prince digs such movies?
