[Edited 8/4/07 6:07am] Blasphemy! Everyone knows Mike only met Ron so he could plead for social justice and protest the growing gap between rich and poor. Any MJ fan can tell you that. “The man who never looks into a newspaper is better informed than he who reads them, inasmuch as he who knows nothing is nearer to truth than he whose mind is filled with falsehoods and errors.”

I think it's a rip off of Billie Jean myself. “The man who never looks into a newspaper is better informed than he who reads them, inasmuch as he who knows nothing is nearer to truth than he whose mind is filled with falsehoods and errors.”

Haven't clicked the link but if we're talking about the Bad video, didn't Scorsese direct that shit? No,they're talking about Michael's "They Don't Care About Us" video from 1995.It was directed by Spike Lee interestingly, just a few years earlier,Spike directed Prince's "Money Don't Matter 2Night" video.

Interesting, I knew the video to Prince's had a Spike Lee feel to it but I had no idea it was directed by the man himself. It definitely had Spike Lee resonance to it and that's a bold statement to make about Michael's "They Don't Care". While I do dig it, I wouldn't dare it call the most powerful political statement ever made into a song, I think Marvin's "You're the Man", Stevie's "You Haven't Done Nothin'", Curtis Mayfield's "If There's a Hell Below" and Bob's "The Times They Are-A Changin'" qualify way OVER "They Don't Care".

My perception of Michael: he was far removed from reality... Lucky you! I´d love to meet the two of them at that time. I was a "fan of their marriage". I thought they were great together. "When Michael Jackson is just singing and dancing, you just think this is an astonishing talent. And he has had this astounding talent all his life, but we want him to be floored as well. We really don´t like the idea that he could have it all."

Some other orgers stepped in to mention some more powerful songs. I merely added to that list. P.S. Idiot Wind is not a protest song. It's much more in the tradition of Positively Fourth Street and Like A Rolling Stone. Pure personal vituperation (I've never used that word before. Damn I'm good! "Vituperation"! Yes, and both videos sucked big time, which was a surprise since Spike always made such great looking films, you would've thought that if nothing else his videos would at least look good, but they didn't. And of course he's famous for being extremely heavy handed, unsubtle and dumb when it comes to political points. The Brazilian version of TDCAU particularly was a disgrace that all parties involved should be ashamed of. It was also the first time I saw MJ dancing like a lookalike. The version here is better and more appropriate, but still extremely problematic for obvious reasons.
