for me they would be The Police,Cameo,U2,The Time,Duran,Duran,Lakeside,Roger&Zapp,also I gotta say when Sting had Branford Marsalis,&that Tight Band during 85-88.that was a tight Band IMHO.I Liked a few others but those Bands kinda stood out for me.others will come to me.

Prince, Madonna and Michael aren't bands! I agree they are all hugely important to the 80s, though.

I debated adding them for about 5 minutes before I actually posted...

I think they officially started releasing stuff in '89? I believe...late enough that I decided not to call them an 80s band...

Besides, if I call them 80s it makes me feel really old smile

Either way I'll just say THE STONE ROSES were one of the best bands ever

Hello everyone im new to the boards been lurking for awhile just wanted to say hi and post some of favorites from the 80s Duran Duran{looking forward to their upcoming reunion tour} The Cars, Late 80s Depeche Mode, Gary Numan, Rick James, Micheal Jackson up to the dangerous album, The Police, Hall and Oates, The Eurythmics, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Tears For Fears, George Micheal, Lionel Richie, The Human League, Jessie Johnson and of course Prince!

Earth,Wind&Fire had some Moments in the early 80's as did The Brothers Johnson,Bar Kays,Kool&The Gang(though alot of there stuff was Sappy)Loose Ends,SOS Band,Midnight Star,Atlantic Star,Gap Band.
