Santana's new CD---here are the exclusive details!!!

Well, the mystery is solved. We now have the FINAL tracklist for the upcoming Santana CD 'Shaman',which will be released on October 22.It doesn't look like Prince appears on this CD.And where is Sting,Aretha,Bob Dylan,Michael Jackson and all those other artists that Carlos wanted to work with? It seems like, for the most part,'Shaman' consists of collaborations with mostly newer artists. Here's the final tracklist for the CD...

"Adouma"
"Nothing At All" featuring Musiq
"Game Of Love" featuring Michelle Branch
"Feels Like Fire" featuring Dido
"You Are My Kind" featuring Seal
"Satellite" featuring Marc Anthony
"Foo Foo"
"Victory Is Won"
"Since Supernatural" featuring Wyclef Jean
"One Of These Days" featuring Ozomatli
"Amore" featuring Macy Gray
"Aye Aye Aye"
"Hoy Es Adios" featuring Alejandro Lerner
"Novus" featuring Placido Domingo
"America" featuring P.O.D.
"Sideways" featuring Citizen Cope

A few thoughts and opinions...

***It will be great to hear Seal again! He appears on the song "You Are My Kind".

***The song "Amore" sounds VERY interesting. It was produced by Dallas Austin and features the unmistakable vocals of Macy Gray. Can't wait to hear this tune!

***There are several outtakes from this CD that I have heard about..."Lady Bird Blues" with Cee-Lo,as well as "Manana","Love To The People","Ath Of My Head","Keep It Positive","Truth Don Die" and "(Curacion) Sunshine On Water".Hopefully, these songs will show up on a future CD or as B-side singles.

Carlos is an artist who "dreams big" but there is just NO way he could have fit all those artists on one CD...lol...perhaps we'll have to wait for the next Santana CD.

To be honest,I was more excited about the 'Supernatural' CD because it had Lauryn Hill and Eric Clapton on it.I'm sure I'll like the new one too.

I am really looking forward to this CD. smile

I'm disappointed that incubus couldn't stop touring long enough to appear on it, though. incubus with Santana would be so awesome.

it's actually an individual...i don't really know how to describe what he does...it has a lot of folk elements, social commentary...but it's got a lot of 'street' influence...heavy bass, a lot of hip-hop elements production wise...it's not rap tho...plus he writes great melodies...just an overall groovy sound unlike anything else out right now...
he has a very cool, unique voice...his lyrics are extremely visual...and his cd has been in my changer for the past year..seriously, i love him...if you couldn't tell...wink

Santana per4med on the "Latin Grammys" with POD. They did "America" and all I can say was that it was okay.

Live, they seemed like they were struggling. Obviously Santana kicked ass on the lead guitar, but..it seemed the group was searching 4 an identity...they were warmly applauded 4 their efforts.

Later that night, Celia Cruz (71 years old!!!) the "queen of the salsa sound" kicked the show's ass! Afterwards, her per4mance was rewarded with one of the 2 standing ovations given out that night. (She was so fucking incredible!)

If "America" is released as the 1st single, I can only hope the studio version sounds better than what I heard on the Grammy stage.

As usual, thank u DavidEye, 4 the up-2-date info on Carlos.

Although there are alot of guest stars on the CD,nothing can steal the show from Carlos' amazing guitar playing. But I think this will be the last "commercial" album from Carlos. He has hinted that he wants to release different types of albums in the future, including an all-instrumental CD called 'Hymns' and a complete Latin music album too.

I'm with Aaron. I liked SUPERNATURAL and CArlos deserves all the aplomb, but he's working too hard at duplicating that vision into a formula. I'm trying to be optimistic, but it's really hard! sad

Wake me when the next album's out. zzz

I think the common link here is Michael Jackson. I also suspect Bootsy is copying Santana's example! eek

Alas, the track with Marc Anthony "Satellite" has just been taken off the album, replaced by a song called "Why Don't You And I" featuring Chad Kroeger from Nickelback. There are rumors that Carlos is saving "Satellite" for a future Latin music project.

I use Quincy Jones Because He doesn't sing usually on Record like MJ did.also MJ while having Guests since "Off the Wall" wasn't sharing the "NAME" Bill like Quincy does&Now Carlos does.Everybody got that Concept from Quincy because Q isn't a Singer.Peace

Not quite my point.

I suspect there was specific conversation between MJ and Santana regarding a formula for success. I see a lot of dabbling by Clive Davis, who ran things for awhile at Columbia/Epic where both artists recorded.

CLive was long Gone by the time MJ&His Brothers came over to CB/Sony back in late 75 early 76.Clive was at Arista working with Barry Manilow among others.MJ had Associations as a Solo Artist with Walter Yentikoff the former CEO of Sony who happen to Hook up Tommy Mottola.BTW Yentikoff has a Book coming out next year.Carlos always Mentions Quincy Jones as far as doing those type of Albums.when He was talking about this Album last Year Quincy Jones's Name was the first He mentioned on this type of Project.MJ&Carlos Prior to the past few Years didn't have much association.Clive was dropped by CBS back in 73 following His Payola&Shaddy Loot Scandal.MJ&Clive have never worked together.Jermaine did However work with Clive.from 84-91.CLive did state recently He felt MJ still had Hits in Him&He still thought of Him as a Talented Cat but He didn't agree with MJ's Press Conference. He did Say though He would Sign MJ if He was able to.

OK you have more precise information, but you see my point. Between Carlos, MJ and Clive Davis there's the germ of an idea that being derived as a formula for making an album of success for superstar talent looking to make a comeback. All fingers end up pointing to Q!

BTW: I know for a fact the Isleys pulled it off last year with Eternal, cuz there was a big hullabaloo about using Santana's formula. I wouldn't be surprisedif Maurcie White isn't trying to do the same thing with EW&F.

fro I just saw a brand new JAMES BROWN cd in the store! tought I was dreaming! woot!

Yep Man I know where you are coming from.you get much Props from me.Clive though was the Spin Doctor on Carlos.Clive had this Formula with Barry Manilow to Whitney Houston,Alicia Keys.He had them all do a Cover song on there Albums for Him.with Carlos He went the Quincy Jones route of getting people on it.as for the Isleys:go back to 95-96 with R.Kelly pushing that "Mr.Bigg" Routine on Ronald Isley.that has been Ron's Selling tag ever since Him&R.Kelly Hit with "Keep it on the down low".now while the Isleys Employed Hot Hit Makers of the Moment that whole Mr.Bigg Persona has been the Isley's Meal ticket over the past few years.in fact Ron is probably called Mr.Bigg far more than Mr.Isley I bet Cash money on that?EWF is trying to drop there set on Def Classic Soul.they left Wyclif&Sony again.that EWF Record is running neck&neck with whenever Stevie will ever drop His set.as for James Brown it was Hit&Miss for me.a few songs were floating around as early as last year.Peace

Al McKay and Larry Dunn are back in EW&F? Cool!!!

As for the new CD...Maurice recently said that he will release it independently on his Kalimba Records label, but a major label will distribute it.This could always change.
