Rap is dead

Remember old school rap? In the late 80s and early 90s rap was some of the best music on radio. You could listen to great rap artists like Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five. Maybe some Treacherous Three or Run D.M.C. Today you get crap like Lil Mama's "Lip Gloss", or T.I.'s "Big Things Poppin'(Do It)". Rap definitely needs an overhaul. Long Live Old School Rap!

Hip-Hop is certainly dead.

It died around 1993, and it's best years were between 1988 and 1993.

It was so diverse... vocally, lyrically, and musically.

Now the vocals, lyrics, and music R empty, lifeless, and soulless.

It's the same situation with R&B.

I'm-a-say Peace.

This is a VERY important issue, so the bullshit on this thread can walk.

Not only is it important, it's damn heartbreaking 4 those of us who were a part of the scene back in the day.

That is the most misplaced "STFU" I've ever seen.

Rap's best years were 1979 to 1984. The late 1980s had a few good rap groups like The LA Dream Team, Pretty Tony and Freestyle, The Egyptian Lover, etc. but a lot of that slow midtempo bullshit was in it's early stages during the late 1980s....what eventually led to the boring bullshit of the 1990s. The early 1990s had a few good rap groups like The 2 Live Crew, Quad City DJs, Dis N Dat, The Dogs, etc. but waaaaay too much rap during that period was that slow midtempo bullshit that still exists today.

As far as late 80s/early 90s goes, in the late 80s, house music was the jammin' music that was just coming above ground. In the early 90s, house music was THE jammin' music of that era. A lot of the rap during that period had turned into boring ass Lawrence Welk tempo shit that had absolutely no rhythm whatsoever.

People love to call late 80s/early 90s the golden age of rap. Hell no, that's when it first started getting fucked up like it is today. The early 80s was the best years for rap.

If B.S Rap Artists like Hurricane Chris continue to get hits, Hip Hop will disappear altogether. Hip Hop has hit rock bottom.
