"A Song For You" by Elliott Yamin: Best Sung Song Ever?

Well ain't it?
To be honest I've never heard the original and I should dig that up soon, but I have a hard time believing it's better sung then Mr. Yamin's stellar rendition.
This song makes good singers take a second guess and say, "Wow, I'm really not that good of a singer am I"?
This vocal is what I imagine a voice being touched by God sounds like. Or rather it ALMOST sounds like that. Perfectly soulful in every way.
You agree don't you?

A YouTube link?

And I don't even think other versions are better than the one Donny Hathaway did.

No, it's not the best sung song ever.
Yes, he sings it better than the original.

Better than the original version (by Leon Russell)? nod
Better than the famous cover (by Donny Hathaway, his idol)? hmph!

He completely rips off Donny's version. He also sings "This Christmas."

Elliott Yamin: One-Man Donny Hathaway Cover Band lol Roberta Flack better get caller ID...

That's hot how you tried to school me like I don't know a thing or two. lol It's a great song, but I prefer Leon behind the scenes. He's one of the greatest pop/rock songwriters (he cowrote my favorite tune ever, Superstar) who I've always been a bit lukewarm on as a performer.

As for Yamin - he's a good singer but a very young singer who hasn't found his own voice yet. In time, hopefully, he will. He's got the chops for it.

lol I wasn't trying to school you in particular -- just anyone who might think Hathaway sang the original.
