Producer Polow Da Don, who recently launched his own label Zone 4, spoke exclusively with SOHH about music he is producing for Janet Jackson's forthcoming CD on Island Def Jam. "Music is different from the last time she was 'it,'" Polow told SOHH. "I want to put her in the clubs because that's where the kids register what's a hit. We can have the radio hits all day with Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis and Jermaine [Dupri]... a lot of people can do that for her. But my particular focus is going to be like... the club." [Watch Polow Interview Here] Polow has produced recent pop hits, including Ciara's "Promise," Fergie's "Glamorous," and Nicole Scherzinger's new single "Whatever You Like" featuring T.I. As previously reported on SOHH, Jackson recently left Virgin and signed with Island Def Jam where her boyfriend, Dupri is now president of Island Urban. http://www.sohh.com/artic....php/12127 [Edited 7/20/07 10:05am] Hes just the HIP guy at the moment that every one will use till they get played out like Pharrell and Timbaland etc... Im not crazy about anything this guy has done yet, even with NICOLE who i love, that song and its production is awful! Hes rumoured to be doing a track with Mariah too, but does he really know what CLUB music is, i dont associate Club with Ciara and Fergie, thats pure POP, if Janet wants to get into the clubs again, work with Paul Van Dyk or Junior V. Paul Van Dyk? Hell no!!! We do not want Janet to co-exist with any trance artists. Besides, that genre is freaking wack, IMO. BT is a better choice for producer.

What has Paul Van Dyk done? I like BT. She’s been rather conservative for someone who loves the kids and claimed to listen to Basement Jaxx. Been gone for a minute, now I'm back with the jump off

I see L.A Reid really coming up with a good album here, he will really take the best of her ideas and make them happen. He is the man behind all of TLC's albums (Which I always saw as more urban version of what Janet was doing) they are all good "dance/hip hop left of the centre r&b/pop" albums, I have feeling this is what he will be goinf for with Janet, what he did with TLC.

And yeah, Control is already older than most of these kids in the club and they can't remember Rhythm Nation either. yeah but most of them remember janet. and velvet rope I'm sure

I see what you're saying, but I fail to see why Janet wouldn't want to stick to a signature sound. IMHO, that's the same trap her brother fell into. He'd enjoyed immense success with Quincy Jones, and then decided that he needed to "keep up" with newer artists and trends. Good night, sweet Prince | 7 June 1958 - 21 April 2016

Cause she's unable to please everyone. She's now taking a chance like allot of folks said and allot are STILL unhappy. STILL...

So they both go and make pop albums and sell gazillions across the rest of the globe. America is not the deal-breaker anymore. I didn't think folks on the org cared about album sales. Or is it that way when it ONLY has to do with PRINCE?

And yeah, Control is already older than most of these kids in the club and they can't remember Rhythm Nation either. i am 21 years old.... and I have always been a Michael Fan first.... I knew about JJ when i was younger but did not know her music... mainly because i wasnt' allowed to listen to the radio or watch videos... ONLY micheal jackson's... and sometime whitney houston... anyways... i was able to really begin to appriciate janet jackson during her velvet rope tour.. and i loved her so much... after becoming a true fan, I discovered all her older stuff and loved everything... most kids today like the music today.. because they have not taken the time to discover older artist and music genres from different decades... I know the music made today can never compare to the 90's, 80's or 70's... and I do not like almost 95% of the stuff that comes out today..

you made a good point about producers practicing the jackson sound with other artists, but once they get to work with the real jacksons, it seems like they try too hard and the work seems forced. That's what happened with rodney jerkins, jermaine dupri, babyface, and even the neptunes. Lets hope that these current producers like ne yo, scott storch, will.i.am, whoever don't do the same thing and produce great work with them

If those guys couldn't get right with the Jacksons, what makes anyone think these guys can have some success? I'm gonna stay confident that nothing they do sucks.

Though, their(Janet's and Michael's) previous works sounds awhole lot better than the stuff that's getting allot of radio play and being shoved down our throats. Their material sounds better than what's the usual top ten hits. But, I'm going to stay positive.

I didn't like any of them upon first hearing them and thought they were annoying. However when buttons grew on me, I thought janet could have done it, and promise sounds like a janet song though I HAAATE the 'yooouuu youuuu youuu' part
