Rudimentary guitar, but playing nevertheless. Clearly way, way low in the mix and not always in sync with what I was hearing, but still playing. --Jazzbojesus

Madonna's 'played' guitar onstage plenty times before, it was hardly "unexpected" as that article puts it. i really couldn't care less whether she mimes or not, Madonna's of little relevance to me. if that is her playing though, she's not very good.

i did see that performance ... and wondered ...

if this guy is a guitar expert - i will take his word ...

i read another article earlier ... that said ... whenever janet or madonna dances around stage and pretends to sing ---- it is always lip synching ... due to the "inability for anyone to do all that physical exercise and really sing effectivly" ... altho sometimes ... of course .. they have mics turned up at end of song to say "thank u " or something to make it look like they were really singing ....

that being said - when she was playin guitar - i take it - it is more just to "wow" people - much like her dancing is .... she is an effective performer ... i gotta admit ... i watched !

Madonna was definitely playing guitar.
I have seen her play guitar on stage many times and for the record she is a pretty good piano player aswell. Madonna isn't as untalented as some of you seem to think. I don't understand the hate. I like her and I admire her, expecially as a savvy business woman. For someone who isn't the most talented or the most beautiful woman in the world she has done awfully well for herself. And people, she has some bloody excellent tunes.
What annoys me the most is that she would be recieved so much more positively if she was a man...double standards suck balls.

Madonna's primary job is to entertain. Not play. In any event, her fans love her so much they don't care. And even if she weren't really playing, would you really be surprised that she'd try to be "pretend musician" to be taken seriously as an "artist"?

She was playing (something), but I'd rather she only pretended to play. That way she wouldn't have to think about it (or look at her fingers) and she could focus on looking pretty, pretending. Her playing wasn't pretty.

I Agree. I love Madonna. I was a child of the 80s. Was 10 years old in 1984 at the height of Thrillermania. My favorite stars then were Michael, Madonna, Prince. It's the same today. These 3 people changed music. they were unique in sound, style, and talent. Love 'em all.
