Just in case anyone gets the wrong idea on my gay comment let me say first that it wasnt meant to be deragatory--except for sometimes fawning over Miss Thang even when it isnt deserved (not meaning the org, but in general)..Im just saying Madonnna is an important part of certain areas in gay culture..Madonna is godhead sometimes. Just like Marley is to potheads.Am I stereotyping and generalizing even though I covered myself with the "in some areas" comment..yes. Am I still right though? Yes. Do I like Madonna..no. Do I love her skank ass-?...ughh yeah.

Madonna's new music always gets alot of excitement simply because she's still extremely popular in the music world.Unlike most artists who were "hot" in the 80s,Madonna is still a consistent Top 10 artist, and that explains why there is always alot of "buzz" and hysteria surrounding her new projects.

your right, but so is Cher...actually, im starting to see a lot of backlash with Maddy in the gay world...i think she has become too disneyfied..(which always happens to a huge star)...her music is never played by respectable djs...(and by that i mean the true underground...the places that play the beats that madonna knocks off years later..)...

nothing wrong...im just objective with her music..sometimes i like it, sometimes i dont...i dont fawn over her just because she is who she is...which, i think a lot of people who are posting on this thread do...

MUSIC ROCKED...that was the song...but this one, it seems rather rushed and cluttered...

Yeah so am I (except for that one experimental year in college but) ...I meant to say that one reason Madonna will always be fawned over etc is that she has a ..built in audience? In the gay world(at least) she isnt just an artist---she also represents freedom, acceptance, courage etc. So because of this, her work will in certain areas (and their are within group differences in those areas Im talking about ) that will praise her work and keep her in the limelight etc..and as Skeletonkee said, theres a backlash brewing..what with a new generation upon us and all that entails as well as her mama-hood approach now.

Oh yeah,I see what you're saying. But honestly,I don't really see a "backlash" brewing. When I go to the Madonna message boards, practically EVERY guy there is gay...lol...they simply ADORE Madonna.Alot of that has to do with the fact that, for the most part,Maddy is still a "dance music artist".Gay audiences are traditionally huge fans of dance music.

Now you know what it's like! Back to the song! I like the strings a lot, and it is quite memorable from the first listen. I bet it does wonderfully!

Well I guess what i meant was that I could understand how Skleletonkee sees the backlash and came up with my own probablities assessment ( new gay gen not being aware of wehat went down in the 80's etc but bear the fruits of the fight etc so no respect for Madonna etc)), but of course on the Madonna mssg board there still gonna be all over her. Folks on Madonna boards are usually like MJ peeps in that respect. What needs to be done is a qualitative data collection of opinions on older club goers and older Madonna fans.

we all should know that online fans give scewed perceptions... what you gotta remember is that there are many many many many people who are all about the latest fashion...and Madonna is too mainstream...thats why her music doesnt get played at dives...at the moment, your are more likely to hear a Mary J Blidge mix over Madonna...but im sure her time is almost up and then someone else will be cutting edge enough not to be poo poo'd on...

funny u say that...many o swingoutsister fan's think that they would be a perfect group to do a Bond theme...and you know what, I agree...they have that dramatic flare in their sound...

but, im realistic...i know SOS will never be huge...and i dont mind..i also know they are very speratic (sic?) with quality...every other album rocks..and a lot of is is filler crap...but when they hit, damn they are good!!

See, I find this quite odd...In the past years I haven't been able to get away from Madonna in the clubs. From traveling out of town (and country)to my standard MPLS hangouts, she's been hitting it. The singles off Music had some KILLER remixes on them. I can be a real "techno snob" and so can some of my friends, but I honestly liked the remixing on these singles and they got thrown in at clubs I didn't expect to hear Madonna...(thanks to the stylings of Deep Dish, Timo Maas, and Oakenfold, djs who don't fuck around, they just kick ass)

I think the "backlash" happened during sex and erotica. Now, she really seems to be a staple. Not saying that can't change, but the only time she's really ripped on is when she puts out a movie. Her music always seems to cary quite a buzz...

Anywho, whatevs, I LOVE the strings in the song, but at 3 listens now, can't decide what my final verdict is. It is sooo close to Music in places, and that kinda bothers me...we'll see what happens

biggrin

ps..as alawys thank you DavidEye for supplying all the needed facts (release dates, etc..) you rock!

well, there u have it...as i said, im refering to the *underground* scene...i dont know anyone who would consider themselves techno snobs...but then, i know i know, im talking about the SF scene...i met Junior Vasquez one late late night at a dive in SF..and he just couldnt stop gushing about the power of the SF music scene...how uncompromising it was in its devotion to *pure* body movement...our parties dont start till 3AM in the morning...when most barf club barf goers are asleep...so, i laugh when people try and talk about *clubs* and dance music, and what they are talking about are sappy dance remixes of madonna and toni braxton...no offense...i understand its all about perspective...

let me give u all a tip...start purchasing Nude Demension collections, you'll laugh at the sh*t Maddy is releasing after a listen...but then, knowing Madonna, she is gonna try and release music that sounds like their movement...

Speaking of club remixes, here are the remixes that will appear on the maxi-CD of "Die Another Day"...

1)"Die Another Day"(radio edit) 3.29
2)"Die Another Day"(Deepsky Remix Edit) 4.06
3)"Die Another Day"(Dirty Vegas Main Mix) 10.08
4)"Die Another Day"(Thee RetroLectro Mix) 6.59 (felix da housecat)
5)"Die Another Day"(Thunderpuss Mix) 9.25

As a clubgoer myself,I can tell you that Madonna's remixes always do well in the clubs. All of the remixes from the 'Music' CD were well-received by clubgoers.

I heard the song 3 times already and I am sorry but I don´t think this is a good song at all. The chorus is too simple and grows tired very quickly. The strings are cool, yes, but that is not enough to make the song any better.

Amd I am sure Bond fans will loath it with a passion. wink

I feel a little disappointed this time, Maddie. Just what I needed in an already dreadful Monday morning sad

Here are a few things I love about the song...

***The line that goes "Sigmund Freud---analyze this!" smile

***The beat!!!

***The strings

***The part where Madonna laughs smile

***The overall production (Mirwais is a GENUIS!)
