I used to have a Sylvester album that had Make Me Feel Mighty Real, Disco Heat, Do You want to Funk etc. It doesn't seem to be available anymore, but any Sylvester Greatest Hits will do the job.

Also Madonna, Confessions on a dance floor.

Oh, it definitely has disco elements. I think the best label I've heard it called is "soul/funk/disco." It's not hard to see the progression from this album to "Got to Give It Up."

The first two singles got all the attention ("Shake Your Groove Thing" and "Reunited") but I really dig the third single "We've Got Love",which went nowhere

Yeah, I really consider albums like this to be the "calm before the storm". This might not have a typical disco production, but it had the lushy horns and strings, sexual revolution aptitude, and alot of that classic macho bravado from Gaye.

Those albums are still different from "I want you". "I want you" was far too mellow to me to be called Disco.

And even OFF The Wall was it Disco in the true essence, it came out at the end of the Disco of era, and although alot of the stuff like Don't Stop and Burn This Disco out had a Disco feel, alot of the other songs had other genres running through it. Infact Smokey Robinson once said it was a Dance/pop/soul album with an underlying jazz tone running through the whole album. Quite frankly I would say the Destinyalbum was alot more Disco than OFF The Wall. In general I think it's all very subjective.

Yeah,it's hard to decide if 'Off The Wall' can truly be considered a disco album. It was considered more of an R&B album.Still, certain tracks are obviously disco ("Rock With You",the title track).

Just like I Want You, I think it's generally R&B influenced by disco. When disco was hot, it was influencing just about everything -- which is one of the reasons there was such a huge backlash. It was inescapable.

Indeed. You even had rock artists jumping on the disco bandwagon.By 1979,you couldn't escape disco.

70s Disco Album Of The Day: 'We Are Family' by Sister Sledge

I always say that this is the best Chic album of all lol It's a stronger album than Chic's own 'Risque' album, which came out the same year."He's The Greatest Dancer" is a heavenly disco classic,as is the title track. There's also the hypnotic third single "Lost In Music".Many people adore the track "Thinking Of You",a song that also could have been a single.Another noteworthy gem is the last song "One More Time".You can't go wrong with this album....there's absolutely no filler.Every song is top-notch.So much for the silly notion that disco albums contain only one or two good tracks and alot of filler.

I'd also recommend you check out A Taste Of Honey's second album 'Another Taste'.Released in the summer of '79,this is a very good album. The first single "Do It Good" is waaaayyyy funkier than "Boogie Oogie Oogie".It puts that earlier hit to shame. The girls also hit pay dirt with the dreamy,string-laden disco jam "Dance".
