Nicholas Brothers appreciation

Haven.t seen this for a long time http://www.youtube.com/wa...Bb9hTyLjfM. The Nicholas brothers were amazing and had to be an influence on Prince. His Housequake dance is based on this, surely.

biggrin What a great thread! Oh, my! THE NICHOLAS BROTHERS are so underrated. To me, the were the GREATEST tap dancers EVER!!! Unfortunately, the were out during a time when they were expected to tap dance and not get credit for their innovation. The'd done some amazing things. There choreography and tricks makes allot of todays stuff (in terms of dancing) look like pre-K shit!
What an awesome duo! Thanks for posting, andymacfunky. lol

Who could forget Harold Nicholas as Little Seymour Pettigrew in "Uptown Saturday Night"?

Harold Nicholas' turn as Sarge in the Five Heartbeats was also a memorable role.

Weren't the roles of the Hines Brothers in 1984's Cotton Club (an underrated movie) based on the Nicholas Brothers?

I wouldn't be surprised as The Nicholas Brothers did dance at the Cotton Club in Harlem.

At one time Gregory and Maurice Hines (Sandman & Clay) had an actual dance act called The Hines Brothers.
When their father joined them they were called Hines, Hines & Dad.

They were fantastic dancers! I got a kick out of that clip, especially the sax player trying (and failing) not to flinch whenever they jumped over his head at the beginning. lol

The Nicholas Brothers are heroes of mine. I'm a dancer and I remember looking at their movies and performances. In dancing, James Brown, MJ, The Nicholas Brothers, Sammy Davis Jr, and Fred Astaire were IT to me.

Joe Tex and Jackie Wilson were great too. Truly underrated
