nod Kool Keyboard solo, and I love the way they ride Kurt's guitar riff.....

Yeah. They had the cache to get out of the box.

nod Good Points...I originally thought that Tribe and the success of Amplified would've been enough for the label to give him the benefit of the doubt, but I guess not--apparently you really gotta burn up the charts before they let you loose... sad

...

You're right..to a degree. Amplified didn't sell as well as they thought it would and should have.I think they messed up by putting "vivrant thing" on teh Violator comilation and Amplified; It should have just been on Amplified. Also, they just didn't seem to know how to market him and the album seemed rushed. It was inconsistent.

On a side note:have you heard "Tip's Breathe and Stop rapped over MJ's Don't Stop...?It's pretty nice.

Why don't you TELL IT? nod

"VT" was hot on the mixtape circuit and put the Violator comp over, but it muddied the success of the album itself. Tip got shorted. It was the right single at the wrong time. It kinda reminds me of what happened when Prince dropped "TMBGITW" as a single one year before the release of The Gold Experience (though those circumstances were different, I grant you).

It seemed very cohesive until the end.

I'd love to hear that.

Don't forget "Vivrant Thing" was also tacked on to the end of Tribe's Anthology album which I believe was released a month before Amplified. In the end I bought the damn song three times.

Got me beat. Only bought it twice!

But as for the Violator comp, I also dug CRU's "Ooh Wee" and Mobb Deep's "Nobody Likes Me."

"Kamaal the Abstract" wasn't a perfect album, but it was interesting and different... which is probably why the record company didn't want to release it.

Then why release The Love Below?

The two can't be compared. The Outkast album was more commecial than Kamaal the Abstract by far.

I think the real reason was explained above.

And I think you missed the obvious sarcasm of my original post.

Anyway...the record company never said (as far as I know) why they weren't releasing it and it's still all speculation on our part anyway.

No, I got it. My question however was still valid and namepeace gave me an answer.
