the lost album-lewis taylor It had been a little while since I last listened to this cd. I don't know why,but I was thinking of southern California and "The Leader of the Band" popped up in my head. I was in the swimming pool and I couldn't stop humming it. Upon being overrun by little kiddies,I left the pool and sought out my Lewis Taylor section of cd's.I basically slammed this in the cd player(I had to have it!!) and proceeded to wrap myself in the harmonies. What a stellar piece of music. This cd is a nuclear bomb! I know it's not for everyone, but if you let it in your stream of consciousness,it will thrive there evermore. I love that song!!! IMO, 'Leader Of The Band' sounds as if it could have been a Todd Rundgren/ Brian Wilson collaboration--it's got that Classic Pop sound!! He's a clever fella, but odd...he's even admitted that his "retirement" is a load of bollocks. I could tell you the truth behind the "nodules" story, but that would only get decent people representing him in the US in trouble. Check out this interesting letter he sent to a journalist who had the cheek to commend the "Lost Album"...

http://195.238.232.184/~d...hp?t=25580 I don't think anybody truly believed the "Polyps" story, well certainly not the diehard fans, because less than a month later, he shows up playing second guitar in the reformed Edgar Broughton Band... and it was kind of evident from his few interviews here that he really didn't like doing the frontman stuff too much...it sounded like he was getting ready to bail. ....He does seem pretty strange, though the way he's just tossing the Lewis thing aside....just MO, but it almost seems as if Andrew's "Lewis Taylor" personna is tied to some personal stuff he just really wants to forget, by any means necessary...I read Hoskyns review, and I'm also wondering if that "Ex-Junkie" remark ruffled ALT a bit..... Funny thing is, he hasn't stopped making music completely, but he seems to want the Low profile now.... he seems to keep popping up in peoples bands, besides Broughton, playing bass for a Gnarls Barkley date, laying vocals down for small projects, etc....but he'smaking it clear he definitely doesn't want the limelight...and if he does pop up now, it's under his real name, Andrew Taylor, not his middle name Lewis anymore.... ... But does he want the Lovelight? Sorry couldn't resist. Enjoyed reading the link for the LT info but also for all the sharp English phrases and terminology i've picked up. And whatever the polyps deal was, it screwed me out of a performance! tA Tribal Disorder http://www.soundclick.com...dID=182431 "Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn. Yeah, Lots of us were pissed off on that one...It's also disingenuous for him to claim that everything after Island records was just for "cash"... if you read interviews from 2002 when Stoned was originally released , you could see he was really proud of it... ... Surprised that 'When Will I Ever Learn' didn't show up on anyone's top ten list... | |
