Stevie Wonder Gem: Gotta Have You

I never realized how good this track from Jungle Fever was- definitely late eighties keyboards and drum machine, but the song moves, especially the way Stevie sings the chorus. Anyone else dig the track?

I absolutely dig that jam! It was one of the better songs he did after his artistic decline in the mid to late 80's. I dug that Jungle Fever soundtrack too! cool

I loved the Jungle Fever Soundtrack. "If She Breaks Your Heart" and "These 3 Words" are among my top favs.

If I'm not mistaken, "Gotta Have U" was his last number one song.

BTW it came out in 1991

I know, just was commenting on the production style of the album, well except for These Three Words.

Anyone dig the techno-ish leanings of "Queen in the Black" Those synth stabs are awesome .

I like a few of the cuts. The uptempos sound like the poppy stuff off Quincy Jones "back on the block". Certainly not the sort of production Teddy Riley/ Gene Griffen etc were doing at the time.

My fav cuts are "eath others throat" and "chemical love". "Gotta have you" goes on for way too long. The ballads are pretty trite though. Sorry, but "these three words" is hallmark to a tee. Not even Diane Warren sinks to those lyrical depths.

Check the clip of "gotta have you" off ITVS chart show.

'Jungle Fever' is a great album...probably Stevie's last truly brilliant album but oddly enough,my favorite track is the one song that Stevie doesn't sing lead vocals on ("If She Breaks Your Heart") lol

its good but imo chemical love is even better, i think it was the last stevie wonder song that blew me away. I thought A time 2 love was a bit overated.
