http://www.ansa.it/site/n...10957.html (GOOGLE TRANSLATION) PERUGIA, 13 LUG - Sly & the Family Stone, historical acronym of the black music yesterday to Umbria Jazz, has disappointed the public of nostalgic. It was the only Italian date of European sighing tour of the band that today it consists in a dozen of musicians guides to you from an optimal drummer, Stefon Bulbose.Il group also playing in coherent way historically e'ormai lacking in that visionario fire whom of it it made, between years '60 and '70, an only case of music in order to have conjugated rock black white man and soul.

Anx, you're not the only one. The translation is choppy to a degree. It's like a verbal hodge podge.

Can Any Italian speaking give a more solid translation of what this means?
All I got from that was "Disappointing" & " Lacking Visionary Fire". I dont know though... here is some other reviews from San Jose Show: http://blogs.mercurynews....ent-186143 "Just to make it clear I was backstage also and personally noticed that the promoters band Masada started late because of the previous band Nuday’s sound tech was so picky. Masada only played about 30 min to give Pete Escovedo some decent time before the Latin Sensations came on. Then by shortening the next two acts 10 to 15 min each the show was only half hour behind. When the stage was set up and ready for Sly it was around 7pm. But only a few people knew that the real person that hung up the show another hour with constant microphone checking was Sly’s people like they were buying time for Sly this is the truth! I saw Sly came on no one told Sly to come off stage he still had the chance to give the people a full show I even heard the city parks people say why doesn’t Sly keep singing?" I TRULY WISH HE WOULD REUNITE THE ORIGINAL BAND.....Probably wishful thinking though....

i think the whole point of seeing sly stone these days is literally that: being able to say you SAW sly stone, literally, with your own eyes, live and in the flesh. to expect a stellar performance...well, at this point, i think that's just gotta be considered gravy.

Yeah...with his sunglasses on.... Must be difficult to perform day after day overseas after being offstage for so long...probably jet lag. Hope the rest of his tour gets better reviews.

We are seeing him on the 28th. I am really looking forward to it but trying to not get too excited about the prospect. My way of thinking is that even if he is not up to too much these days if he has a good band and they turn out the songs then it should be a great night.
Would love to hear what others have thought of what they have seen so far.

It is not known why FuNkeNsteiN capitalizes his name as he does, though some speculate sunlight deficiency caused by the most pimpified white guy afro in Nordic history.

I love Sly Stone! He's older. Do folks really expect for him to have the energy he had in the 60s through 80s. That's not fair. The fact that he's still performing is great, in my eyes.

I saw him last night and I got all teary-eyed because I was hearing his voice for the first time live and it just really got to me. Plus, well he's so fragile-looking and all that. His voice sounded a lot better than I expected though. So I guess it was really bitter-sweet. Although it was kind of scary when he jumped down off the stage onto the platform. "I saw a woman with major Hammer pants on the subway a few weeks ago and totally thought of you." - sextonseven
