I have to admit,I was less than thrilled with their show boxed

to be fair, this wasn't really a WAR performance, since they only had one original member.I'll cut them some slack. But damn....they dragged the songs on for too long and they didn't even perform many of their biggest hits (no "The World Is A Ghetto"....no "Summer"....no "All Day Music"...no "Outlaw").They spent an entire hour doing the band introduction thing! I would have preferred more songs instead.

These days, that would be The Lowrider Band who have 4 of the original War members.

Howard Scott - guitar
Lee Oskar - harmonica
Harold Brown - Drums
B.B. Dickerson - Bass

They've been legally restricted from even using the word WAR in any of their promo material. disbelief

I saw The Family Stone perform a free show a coupla weeks ago on the beach in Santa Cruz and as for original members, it was Rose, Cynthia and Jerry. The guy posin as Sly gave honorable mention to Sly's brother who was sittin amongst us in the crowd.

It was a fun short 45 minute set, but they were on point and sounded as good as ever!

Yes,Sly showed up!!!!! lol Our local newspaper gave it a very negative review:

http://www.mercurynews.co...ck_check=1

He didn't stay onstage very long. The band kicked off with "Dance To The Music" and a few other big hits, and still,no Sly sad He finally came out in the middle of the set, during "Sing A Simple Song".He then sang "If You Want Me To Stay" and, imo,he sounded great. He was jammin' music Then,he left the stage and the band continued without him! At the end,he made one final appearance onstage, where he said something like "The reason I can't play longer is because of the cops" nuts It was an odd,yet sometimes entertaining, performance.

It was funny.....the big question of the day was "Will Sly even show up?".All day long, everyone was talking about his reputation for missing shows. Many people left before Sly came onstage. When the Family Stone came out and performed all those big hits san Sly ("Dance To The Music","Hot Fun In The Summertime","Everyday People"),alot of people began heading to the exits. It was crazy!

I should add that The Family Stone kicked ass.Even though they performed most of their set without Sly,they were on fire.I especially liked "Somebody's Watching You".

I had a ball lol In addition to Sly,I also saw The Average White Band. They put on a great show....playing all their big hits "Pick Up The Pieces","Schoolboy Crush",Cut The Cake","A Love Of Your Own" and I was surprised when they launched into "Soul Searching",one of my favorite songs.

Earlier,Pete Escovedo came out and played a short set with his son Juan.At one point,he made a joke about Prince but I couldn't really hear what he said.It was something about Prince's short height confused and his son said "Prince heard that!".

this kinda stuff pisses me off mad Why the hell is Lonnie touring with a bunch of guys calling themselves 'War'? confuse Why not just tour with the original members, even if they have to come up with a new name? It's absurd that there are two different versions of War on the road right now.

David, I'm gonna have to drive out to California and whip your ass out of pure jealousy on my part....because you are just having too much fun out there going to all these different concerts each weekend. Hell, the only groups that ever play in my area are these local blues artists.
