Well you have to add:

Organized Konfusion
Black Sheep
Freestyle Fellowship
Souls of Mischief

there are many more...

p.s. gangstarr really didn't go under anyone's radar (well not if you listened to hiphop more than on the weekend)

Is there any classic 90's compilation CD's with other artists besides the usual naughty by nature and the like.

Everytime you see won of these classic rap compilation CD's they always have 6 minutes, the message, planet rock, and some bullshit buy MC Shan on them ( I know these are 80's artists). Its a greatest rap hit compilation! Look at all the jams you could put on one CD. Instead they always put the same shit in different order amongst the different compilation discs.

There were a lot of underground rap artists around the early to mid 1990's that everybody has forgotten about.

If anybody sees a good compilation CD out there, let me know.

They were no more mainstream than Gangstarr or Lords of the Underground.

Relatively speaking, they were all pretty mainstream.

No big deal. It's really a fine line. Despite the huge crossover success of MC Hammer, rap hadn't yet become as mainstream as it is now. Since we had to seek it out and it wasn't really played on the radio, you could either argue that most rap was "mainstream" or most of it was "underground" -- it just depends on how you define the words.
