Some other Luther Vandross songs that are funky:

"Never Too Much"
"Stop to Love"
"The Best Things in Life Are Free" (the duet with Janet Jackson)
"Shine"
"Give Me the Reason"

Okay there's 5! Give me 5 more. Do you have enough for a good greatest hits CD? I doubt it!

I had made a "Best Of Luther Vandross" CD for a friend of mine. It wasn't all funk but the entire CD was uptempo songs. My friend listened to it and said...."That shit ain't no real Luther Vandross! Where the hell are the songs that they play all over the radio?"....I said...."Do you mean all that slow boring shit from the late 80s and 90s? Honey, I don't own shit like that in my collection". lol

Here's a Luther Vandross FUNKY Greatest Hits Package:
1. Shine
2. Say It Right Now
3. She Saw You
4. Never Too Much
5. She's A Super Lady
6. For The Sweetness Of Your Love
7. Nights In Harlem
8. It's Over Now
9. 'Til My Baby Comes Home
10. The Night I Fell In Love (smooth funk)
11. The Best Things In Life Are Free
12. Come Back
13. Bad Boy/Having A Party
14. Take You Out

These are what I consider Luther's funky stuff. HA!

It hurts me that people don't like Luther because of his sexuality. Besides, nothing was ever disclosed by Luther or any of his associates that he was gay. Now, it is widely assumed by some of his actions in small parties. Nothing has ever been confirmed. Luther was a smart man to keep people out of his business.

Now, he did have this "goody-too-shoes" attitude. I don't think Luther thought he was "better" than other people. He was very confident in his talent. He knew he had talent and had been blessed with a true gift. I'm sure Luther had his fair share of ups and downs (a few album flops and issues in both his business and personal life), but who hasn't?

As for his music, people think his music was boring. HOWEVER, Luther's music was definitely about LOVE! Everyone needs to know that he found his niche while doing background and recording 2 albums with a group. I really think after "A House Is Not A Home", we learned how a ballad should be done.

I wish people would respect Luther's legacy and let him rest in peace. If you don't like his music, that's fine, but dont' hate him because of a rumor about his sexuality. I highly suggest u guys read the biography written about him a few years ago, it hints at Luther's sexuality and his issues.

There is also BET's Journey's in Black dvd. It is very informative. They drill Luther on this question and others.

Searching
Better Love
Glow of Love
were my jams back in the 80s. But I also love those Big Ballads too, So Amazing, Superstar and House is Not Home.

As for Luther being gay, I knew that about 20 yrs ago.Firstly, when interviewed he said all his main influences were women, from Diana Ross to Dionne and I notice that many gay men( not all) tend to draw alot of their influences and inspiration from women in general. And secondly, anytime he was interviewed about his love life he tended to talk in parables and rather than just say "She" or "he" he would refer to them as "this person". But whether he was gay or not doesn't matter, all that matters is his music continues to live on.

RIP

Luther was a private person and did not wish to share his personal life with the public. In addtion, he was not performing disco music or rock n roll so why would he have a flaming image.

I was not a big fan of all his music but, he had a incredible voice and you had better get use to hearing his music.

I needed to get this off of my chest. I hate Luther Vandross Music, I don't have a problem with him! I have a problem with him being labeled as a Master of the love ballad. I don't have a problem with him being gay. I have a problem with him portraying himself as a ladies man in all of his videos. It was obvious that he was gay. But you always seen him in romantic situations with women in the videos. I remember back in the day, if someone mentioned that he might be gay people were about ready to fight you lol . It was funny how people who were homophobes loved Luther and they swore up and down that he was straight.

At least George Michael gave us obvious clues that he was gay. Remember when he used to wear those booty shorts. I swear I seen him kiss Andrew Ridgley once in a video.

Like I stated I don't have a problem with him being gay, but I didn't like the way he was portrayed. Besides everything else, i just can't stand his voice. I also think all of his songs sounded the same. Plus they still play the shit out of his music.

Is there anybody else who hates his music.

CASE ENDED.

U cannot hear "Never Too Much", and NOT love Luther's voice and the musical production. It's a SOUL test right there. Forget about the other songs I mentioned... wait... don't do that.

I myself was never a big luther vandross fan for simply the reason some people
here aren't. He made a bunch of boring ballads. Don't get me wrong, dude could sing his ass off. I even dug the busy body album and some of his production work with aretha mainly jump to it and get it right. Luther's music seemed to get boring and predictable around the mid 80's. I enjoyed a few of his latter day tunes such as secret love. I am looking at the list of some of the songs some people are claiming to be funk tunes by luther. no no no!
Luther was a ballad artist who occasionally made uptempo records but none could be put in the funk category. One of the reasons it took him so long to get a record deal before 1981 was because all of the funk bands were happening and he just did not fit in before epic took a chance on him. As far as whether he was gay or not, it is not even an issue. It is about the music. However; Mr. Luther for a fact has clashed in the studio with the queen of soul(she even confirmed it) and envogue when they opened for him on tour in the early nineties.
Don't laugh at my funk
This funk is a serious joint

You are not worth the time. I'll rip you a new asshole but, your a moron who does not understand the concept of the dozens.

You need to go find a hobby and keep your comments about RnB and funk to yourself
Since you don't anything about that either.

Now go find more stupid ass pictures to post on the board. Go on before you mom starts calling you to dinner.
