I'm guessing that you're referring to this one... ...A Love Supreme - DELUXE EDITION Not only does it include the only complete live recording of this music, there are alternate takes of Acknowledgement with the addition of Archie Shepp. In that same vein... ...The Complete Birth Of The Cool includes the only live recording of the Miles Davis nonet. While we're on The Prince of Darkness, if you really want to get dark... ...the unholy trinity of Dark Magus, Agharta & Pangaea should do you. A little more conservative... ...Ellington at Newport is an historic live recording Somewhere in the middle... ...Swiss Movement: Montreux 30th Anniversary - (Les McCann & Eddie Harris) For guitar... ...Smokin' At The Half Note - Wes Montgomery This one's always been a favorite... ...V.S.O.P.: The Quintet - (Herbie Hancock, Tony Williams, Ron Carter, Wayne Shorter & Freddie Hubbard) A few to get things started. Maybe more later. tA Tribal Disorder http://www.soundclick.com...dID=182431 "Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn. C'mon y'all."

I'll add one...
If you manage to put up some duckets for this: ....You'll have some truly great live music on your hands-- Miles' second great quintet at the Top of their game--Smokin! ( I don't think Tony Williams was quite 20 years old when they recorded this....) ... " I've got six things on my mind --you're no longer one of them." - Paddy McAloon, Prefab Sprout

And you're right, it's quite pricey. tA Tribal Disorder http://www.soundclick.com...dID=182431 "Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn. C'mon y'all."

Got me JUICED!!!!
The Quintet -- Live At Massey Hall (Toronto, 1953): Dizzy Gillespie, Max Roach, Bud Powell, Charles Mingus, and Charlie Parker play together for the first and only time. Regarded as one of the best live jazz recordings ever. Bill Evans: Live At The Village Vanguard (1961): This recording from the legendary pianist (the guy tickling the ivories on a little-known record called Kind of Blue) may be the most exquisite recording in my collection. Thelonious Monk and John Coltrane: Live At Carnegie Hall (1957): Recently uncovered, this live recording features two artists at their very best. Miles Davis and Quincy Jones: Live At Montreux: One of Miles' last major performances, IIRC. Very enjoyable set spanning Miles' memorable catalogue.
