I have always found the majority of country music to be boring as hell, even more boring than classical music. However, once shit hop took over, it quickly replaced country as being the most boring genre of music ever.

As much as country music bores me, I do have respect for the music as being a genuine form of music with talented musicians and singers, even if it ain't my taste. I can't say the same for shit hop though. I see it as a boring talentless form of bullshit that is made by ignorant non-musicians for a rich white man's profits. I have no respect for it whatsoever.

The Pointer Sisters
Solomon Burke
Candi Staton

They don't now they better ask somebody. nod I don't dig it all that much but I love the soulful versions of the songs (like the covers of "Ain't It Funny How Time Slips Away" for example) but I respect it as a genre.

Well that's REAL country!
The swill thats being put out is damn near incompetant
they're making songs like Tequila Takes Her Clothes Off and Size Matters
Who's fault fault, i'd Say it's Toby Keiths fault.
The most prominent thing about Country music was specifically the writing.
Cats like John Prine, Willie Nelson , Cash were prominent in writing.
Classics like Angels From Montgomery and etc...
In that says todays country music does indeed suck...
cause it isn't country music, its country PoP...

If you want to hear some of the old school country in todays music
you gotta go towards the indie Alternative Country movement
Cats like Ryan Adams & The Cardinals, Wilco, Jeff Finlan, Wheat , Eastmountainsouth etc... Great song writing, music is top notch.
I would say this is more country than country music
and its infinitely better...
The spirit of johnnyy cash and country music liives on in Alternative Country

But Size Matters, even though it's a corny song, is a George Strait song, isn't it? He's old school as well.

IT isnt a george strait song, but Strait sucked as well...

Has anyone notice that Country might be THE only genre that doesn't use a drum machine or a synth (not counting keyboard workstations)?

I basically have generic 'form' posts for threads like this. I have one for "Dylan can't sing" threads, "The Beatles aren't all that" posts, and this one for "Country is crap":

There are two reasons why country music is one of my favourite art-forms:

1) It sounds nice. There are few things in music more elegant and timeless than a stripped down, understated country arrangement, which can make the most tired material sound fresh and alive. And, unlike almost every other genre I seem to hear these days, country vocalists tend to sing with rather than wail uncontrollably overtop of their material.

2) Country songwriters place an emphasis on melody and song construction that is largely absent from most other genres in recent years. Pop and r&b are dominated by rhythms and production techniques, and I can appreciate those qualities in music, but ultimately it is the fundamentals of song construction that make music resonate with me.
