Thanks, just added it to my wish list.

It would be a great "bookend" to a book I'm currently reading, Peter Guralnick's book on the history of soul music:

Good night, sweet Prince | 7 June 1958 - 21 April 2016

Props will be withheld until the showing and proving has commenced. -- Aaron McGruder

I read it a few years ago. I need to re-read it. It had some really good info on Diana and Berry sleeping together. As well as allegiations of Joseph Jackson getting a prostitute for MJ to make him "tough".

It also talked about Berry's gambling problems,

Very good info on the historic record label.

I read parts of it but I'm gonna buy it soon since I have a job now.
That thing about them locking Mike(who was barely 15) in the hotel with 2 hookers was pretty fucked up confused
I still can't believe Diana hid the fact Rhonda was Berry's daughter for that long.

Many referred to her as a "hooker" because she used men to get what she wanted out of her career. However, the book never implies that she slept with Michael. It states that Joseph (when they did a stint in Vegas) hired 2 "beautiful" professionals for Michael to lose his virginity with. Michael was so disturbed that he cried the whole time and nothing happened.

Another book that has some interesting info on MJ is Teddy Pendergrass' "truly blessed" autobiography.

In this book, Teddy tells of how the brothers came to his home when they were recording their Epic Records debut cd. He talks of how MJ was so quiet and intrigued with the figurines his wife had displayed in the home. Teddy states that the other brothers were outside playing ball and MJ stared for hours at the glass figurines. when he asked Jackie about it, he stated that he was "quiet" and wasn't crazy about sports.

Hmmm...

I have a feeling that book title alone implies that even in a prestigious record company/empire like Motown, there was some dirty sinful business going on at some points.

I haven't read the Motown book, but from what I've heard, it's just a rehash of material from other sources, including lots of urban legends. How much time is spent on the actual history of the company and the work of it's founders?

This author actually took the time to go to Detroit and dig through the court papers, interview old employees, and talk to old session musicians. They were not able to get Berry Gordy. He turned them down for an interview, however they did pull quotes from his autobiography.

Reading it now actually, its very good. I was shocked to learn that by 1972 that 80% of the executives and office staff were white. It seems it lost its soul early, he exploited his artists and the company was mismanaged by Barney Ales, Susan De Passe and Ewart Abner (The most inapt of all, he lost the Jacksons they reckon). Also surprised that by 1980 it was Lionel Richie keeping the company solvent. Thouroughly reccommend it to anyone. the cover is stupid, though it looks a little puff daddy bling bling to me.

Read Rick James book. He talks a little about the mob guys hanging around Motown.
Could be the reason they started to go down hill in the 70's.
