she's great, isn't she? One thing about Teena is...there is alot of EMOTION in her songs, especially the ballads. You can tell that she clearly pours her heart and soul into her songs...singing these lyrics like there's no tommorrow! This lady is no joke.

I have this cd too and I love it. Especially the songs never released before. But don't quickly start dissing her post Motown years. She has some true classics in her Epic years. Have you forgotten: Out on A Limb, Dear Lover, Work It, Lovergirl, and the classic Ooh La La (just ask the Fugees). Anyway, I'm glad someone is paying homage to Teena. I just wish I thought of it first. She maybe white on the outside but she's all soul sister on the inside. Peace and be wild!

the Audience would never post on this thread. He's the only orger I know that doesn't like Teena.

I was thinking the same thing Teena is an Org favorite, but he's not impressed at all.I bet he likes a few of these songs, though.

This is the very best compilation of Teena Marie's. It's her best from Motown. I have another compilation of her best from Epic but it ain't near as good as the Motown one. Teena had become too damn mellow on Epic. Andy is a four letter word.

Never heard that...Is it on "Fabulous"? It sucks that there hasn't been a good CD that mixes mostly Motown with her Epic highlights. There was one, but it didn't include "Oh La La" of all songs!

This one is almost as good:
It doesn't have "Every Little Bit Hurts," "Don't Turn Your Back on Me," and "Turnin' Me On," but it has "Young Love" and "Aladdin's Lamp" instead. Just like this one, all the songs are the album versions. "Whitney was purely and simply one of a kind." ~ Clive Davis

Yes these are all classics...
However, for me, Tee can do no wrong... I am even a fan of her sometimes panned late 80s/early 90s work... There are some real gems on Emerald City, Naked To The World, and Ivory... try and download... You So Heavy Sunny Skies Call Me (I Got Yo Number) Work It If I Were A Bell Cupid Is A Real Straight Shooter Since Day One **** And all SoCal fans should check her out at The Vault in Long Beach Aug 5 -- http://tickets.vault350.c..._shows.asp **** [Edited 7/13/07 17:26pm]

I have this compilation and another one too.
I also have "It Must BE Magic" Reissued. It's great. has extra tracks too. I would liek to get all the original CDs but I hear her first one is unavailable on CD. BTW I saw her last year in Bermuda and she RAWWCKED!!! I mean, she just turnd the mutha out. Live she kicks it. And even though "Ooo wee" was on the radio, she ONLY played her old school hits.

The Lovergirl is the Epic/Sony collection. This one is the Motown collection. There still isn't a consolidated hits package from her.

I think the Epic albums are good, but the Motown stuff is superior. It's too bad that her relationship with Motown soured after the 'It Must Be Magic' album.I would have liked for her to remain there and do more recordings with Rick James.

PORTUGESE LOVE IS MY SHIT!!!! Especially when she hits the bridge: "YO QUIERO A LA SER AMOR A FEELING TOO HARD TO IGNORE SAY AMORE PORTUGESE YOU GOT TO SAY YOU LOVE MEEEEE!!!!!" I would love to see that shit live. isn't "Portugese Love" just the most amazing song? So sexy and exotic, and I love the Latin segment, when it gets faster. Oh, my! It most certainly is. That one along with OUT ON A LIMB. But, I'll have to admit, I'm so very partial to BEHIND THE GROOVE!!!!!

speaking of "Behind The Groove",I have a silly question about it....something I've been wondering about for years
In the song, she makes several references to "Xanadu".Is she referring to the movie which came out around the same time (late 1980)? Was "Behind The Groove" possibly written for the film? Was it rejected? What's the connection? Or is Teena talking about something different altogether?
