Let's just call it a day and say she's finished. How can anyone win with contemporary R&B producers, anyway? Her only chance is to make a pop album and try and win back the global market, and since she's clearly not prepared to do that, she's done.
[Edited 7/11/07 5:27am]

Yep I hope she scraps the tracks shes done with the RnB producers
and I hope they never surface.(unlikely)
She should craete a full force of dance\pop producers and create
something amazing, exprimental and upbeat.

here's the type of album she should make:

***6 uptempo tracks produced by Dangermouse (Gorillaz producer)---these songs are in the vein of "Feels Good Inc",arguably the best single of 2005.The songs are rock/pop/dance,very dark with interesing lyrics that are deeper than the the usual sex stuff that Janet has been doing for two long now.Remember the Gorillaz' single "Dare"? Imagine Janet working a hot groove like that.

hmmm

That sounds perfect
***1 slow jam produced by Robin Thicke, a James Poyser track, a Raphael Saadiq. and the rest Jam and Lewis

Unfortunately Janet like her brother is a 'Whoever is Hot' type of Artist when it comes 2 Collabos. She just wants 2 get those Hits..so whoever is making them...she will be cool working with 'em.

We don't know if Jam and Lewis want to be apart of this project. We also don't know if they are executive producing the album with JD and pointing out producers for Janet to work with. Also, if she is going to Def Jam, LA Reid probably has in mind what he wants Janet to sound like for her new project (like he did Mariah).

Besides, Reid and Lewis and Jam are all good friends and have known and worked with each other for years.

Jam and Lewis haven't produced an uptempo "hit" since "All For You". In their older age, they have written beautiful ballads and gospel songs, but the dance stuff lacks lustre.

which songs not produced by them do you consider descent?

Got Til It's Gone--wasn't that technically produced by J Dilla? I thought I've heard that somewhere. Come back Cinister Cee!!!

I Want You--Great Song

Sexhibition

Pleasure Principle (I think?)

U are right...."Pleasure Principle" was a Monte Moir track. Jam played keys on it, but it was written and produced by Monte.

If only! she missed the boat with "The Neptunes" their sound when they were big was just screaming for her (00 - 04) they always seemed so destined to work together (I thought that the first time I heard Kalidescope album by Kelis)
also she should have worked with Missy more another perfect match, but Missy's work never made it on to her albums, Timbaland and Janet! what happened there? didnt janet hear "One in a Million" album????

Why should she make a "rock" album when her "rock" crowd tuned her away after "nipplegate"?

hmmm

Hey! Don't forget the 29 totally useless, silly and immensely irritating "interludes" fart

She's never rock music, she made a couple rock/soul songs that crossed over.

OMG, if she doesn't stop doing interludes...Why can’t someone tell her that it’s not cute anymore?

And while she’s at it, cut out the moaning too. Not sexy.

I agree. While listening to 20YO, it got so annoying listening to the interludes. I loved them on Janet and "All For You" but the rest have been a little lame.

Janet should call up the Gorillaz' producer (Dangermouse of Gnarls Barkley) and then call up Robin Thicke for a few really good ballads.Do a few edgy dance tracks with a European producer. For once, she would make an interesting, edgy album that will take her in new directions. There really is nowhere else that Jam and Lewis could take her, musically.

I'd settle for just a really good uptempo pop album with no boring ballads, no pointless interludes, no sex tracks, and no mediocre songs.

But it's not going to happen.

When they are done with Janet, I wish your dream 10 would move on to help Michael's album also. biggrin Great list.

Seriously though, if this album doesn't have Jam and Lewis on it I probably will skip it. Beyond "So Excited", I thought 20YO sucked hard. If I could get a refund, except for 99 cents, for that track, I would.

For some reason I am not totally shocked that she wouldn't have Jam & Lewis on this new album. A change could be good!

I didn't mind the outside influences on her `00s albums. (Except Rockwilder's shit on All 4 U has NOT AGED WELL - hell, did it ever sound good?)
