Billboard: New Janet album scheduled for 2008

A new album by Janet is scheduled to be released sometime in 2008, according to the latest issue of Billboard magazine.

The July 14 issue of the magazine contains a listing of all album releases currently scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2007, and it also lists Janet among the artists who have albums scheduled to come out sometime next year.

The magazine does not give any other details, such as which record label the album will be released by.

The R&B singer-songwriter had also told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch last month that he was scheduled to work with her sometime this year.

What the fuck is she thinking?! She should know that if Jam and Lewis ain't gonna be on the album, it's gonna suck. Look at Damita Jo and 20 Y.O.!

Funny thing, I wouldn't be suprised if Jam and Lewis find their way on her brother's album(first single should be out in a couple of months biggrin )

Either way, I hope she doesn't go the "other" direction and have Jermaine produce the album.

That's not true but it's not as if they need Janet to showcase their talent. In fact, it might be best if they produced an entire CD, for a lesser known artist...or someone in the place that Janet was, when they made her career.

Seriously, I have quite a few random tracks of hers that I like. None as much as the J&L tracks, though.

Just For A Little While is the most interesting thing she's done this decade.

why does everyone think that Janet should stick with Jam and Lewis? These days, their sound is stale and uninspired. In the 80s,they were amazing but nowadays, their music is as bland as everything else on the radio right now.

Janet should call up the Gorillaz' producer (Dangermouse of Gnarls Barkley) and then call up Robin Thicke for a few really good ballads.Do a few edgy dance tracks with a European producer. For once, she would make an interesting, edgy album that will take her in new directions. There really is nowhere else that Jam and Lewis could take her, musically.

Jam & Lewis are finished. I'd rather they not participate. The Avila Brothers, their proteges, sounded more like Jam & Lewis on Enjoy than anything Janet has done with Jam & Lewis this decade.

I don't necessarily think she should stick with Jam & Lewis but I definitely lost a few notches of interest at "Ne-Yo again confirms that he is writing songs for Janet". confused

Let's just call it a day and say she's finished. How can anyone win with contemporary R&B producers, anyway? Her only chance is to make a pop album and try and win back the global market, and since she's clearly not prepared to do that, she's done.

Maybe the rumors were true, Rene Elizonda was the brain child of Janet's best work "1814, janet, The Velvet Rope" he was the creative director of these projects, visually, musically, her style and probaly the depth of these projects.. then he was gone, and it started with "All 4u" (and she's basically made same record over again ever since) ,

Yep I hope she scraps the tracks shes done with the RnB producers
and I hope they never surface.(unlikely)
She should craete a full force of dance\pop producers and create
something amazing, exprimental and upbeat.

My dream 10
Jimmy & Terry
Dallas Austin
Cathy Dennis
Trevor Horn
Danger Mouse
Daft Punk
Scott Storch (i know his a hip hop producer yet he can create pop)
Moby
Nile Rodgers
Nellee Hooper
lol
Whats yours

My friends and I use to joke about that but we believe it more and more.

Some say well where is Rene now? but just because he hasn’t gone on to work with other people or make a name for himself doesn’t mean he wasn’t or isn’t a creative individual who worked very well with her.

here's the type of album she should make:

***6 uptempo tracks produced by Dangermouse (Gorillaz producer)---these songs are in the vein of "Feels Good Inc",arguably the best single of 2005.The songs are rock/pop/dance,very dark with interesing lyrics that are deeper than the the usual sex stuff that Janet has been doing for two long now.Remember the Gorillaz' single "Dare"? Imagine Janet working a hot groove like that.

***4 slow jams produced by Robin Thicke

***3 songs with a European dance music producer---forget the boring midtempo R&B crap...Janet's longtime fans want to DANCE! How about 3 fast, relentless dance tunes that kick ass?

hmmm

"Dare" is a jam!! headbang a cool,80s-styled dance track. This is exactly the type of jam that Janet needs, but she won't get it from the lame American R&B producers that she keeps working with.
