00's has been a washout musically (so far) Ok, i'm a thirty-something, and I suppose this is a familiar moan throughout the ages of people in their thirties.
But is it just me, or has this decade been exceptionally uninspired, musically? Of course, there's a handful of good tunes. But: Rock music is in a slump. The guitar sound of the moment is that early eighties glacial U2/Joy Division thing (Coldplay, Interpol, Editors, etc etc) or a Strokes identikit scrappiness (libertines, Yeah Yeah Yeah's, Arctic Monkeys, Rapture etc). Pretty much excitement free. Hip-hop is a bloated, lazy, sedated gorilla Dance has hit a wall of non progression and sameiness. Soul has become a cult concern And where o where are the tunes? If I had to sum up the 00's in one act, it would be the Black Eyed Peas. Yeah, it's that bad. can anyone convince me otherwise?

We really don´t like the idea that he could have it all."

I think the music industry as a whole is the reason that a lot of good music hasn't come to the forefront. But there have been some really good releases over the past 7 years.
Just a few... Beck - Sea Change Any White Stripes Any Peaches OutKast - Lovebelow/Speakerboxx Lovers Rock - Sade Bjork - Vespertine Mike - Life in Cartoon World Amy Winehouse - Back to Black The is also a lot of Electronic Music that has come out that's been really good, like Shpongle. the only good albums of this decade were made by artists that have been recording since the past decades.
But then tere are those who are not the norm like Arcade Fire, Amy Winehouse, White Stripes...

Someone asked on here what are the Top albums of the decade so far and I had to think alot about that. Few artists this decade have been inspiring...the artists I truly love came from decades past. Alot of it also has to do with the lack of artist development and longevity of some of these artists who are not given the chance to grow....and fall under tremendous pressure from the powers that be to just write a hit song. I could be wrong but that's how I feel...having said that I do enjoy.. Coldplay (who technically came out in the late 90's in the UK) Ryan Adams (who technically came out of the 90's with his band Whiskeytown) John Legend KT Tunstall Amy Winehouse White Stripes (again from the late 90's) peace Every minute of last night is on my face today....
