No. I like some of everything. I think it's tougher for me to find stuff in certain genres, like modern mainstream pop and hip-hop, but there's even stuff there I dig. My mom, my dad, my younger brother, my older brother, my friends and I all listened to different music, and it affected my tastes as a whole. That's how my house was too. My parents listened to classic R&B,funk, soul,Motown. Whenever we'd stay our Grandma's house during the week, she'd always listen to gospel (like Mahalia Jackson ,Mississippi Mass Choir). My brother was more into metal, classic rock,industrial,grunge,etc.....and when I was younger I mainly liked female artists (mostly the "Lilith Fair" crowd ), 90's ska bands, dance music, the oldies station. So all these genres made me more open as I got older. Ugh, as much as I like female artists, you would never catch me at a Lilith Fair show. Those are all the wrong kinds of female artists.

That reminds me of that Dead Kennedys' song "Triumph of the Swill" that starts out with the voice-over: "We came home and found our son lying dead on his bed with a gunshot wound. He had his headphones on and there was an Ozzy record on the turntable, so we called our lawyer..." I remember Ozzy or Judas Priest had all sorts of problems with suicides decades ago.

And I think that song was referencing a specific Ozzy/suicide case back in the 80s actually. I guess I remember it vaguely, but didn't really "get" the connection when I bought the DK Bedtime for Democracy album that it's on because I bought it when I was only about 12 or 13. In fact, a LOT of the Dead Kennedys' political lyrics were sort of lost on me back then because I was so young and not really up on what was going on in the world. I knew every word by heart, but I didn't really know what I was singing about and it's funny to listen to them now because they're really about everything that was going on politically at that time. All these songs about Reagan, the C.I.A., nuclear waste accidents, etc. Of course that's all still the same now I suppose. Just change the president's name. I still like the idea of it....with more of a diverse lineup. If you don't like Lilith then you really won't like the Michigan Womyn's Music festival. looking for you in the woods tonight Switch FC SW-2874-2863-4789 (Rum&Coke)

Depends on my mood, but I could still handle the folk/acoustic stuff. I remember reading quotes about how they tried to get Tori to do "Lilith", but she was busy doing her own thing. I still wouldn't mind going to the Womyn's Music Festival....I think it'd be kinda interesting. I know Le Tigre and Ani DiFranco played there...but for the most part it's lesser known artists. looking for you in the woods tonight Switch FC SW-2874-2863-4789 (Rum&Coke)

Tori may have told Sarah and her people that she was busy, but she really didn't think that scene was for her even if she was available. I'd put Le Tigre on my list. They rock in a new wave-electro kinda way. Just like Peaches.

Tori stated that her shows are theater pieces and that the festival would've forced her to switch her sets around.....that was understandable. Can't blame her for that. Yeah, Le Tigre kinda stuck out on that bill because most of the acts weren't electro-clash. They're feminists though, so it's cool. looking for you in the woods tonight Switch FC SW-2874-2863-4789 (Rum&Coke)
