Aw, I posted a thread raving about The Gossip (including a link to their "Standing In the Way of Control" video) almost a year ago and people were cold to it then. Maybe their next release will go over bigger. It's nice to see someone else appreciates the band... or at least Beth Ditto's ... eh, woman-ness!

it's a shame the org is sometimes so autistic in terms of music! sad

The Gossip is kinda boring. I mean, Beth is a talented singer, but the music is just some boring hipster stuff. shrug

I know sextonseven saw them live recently. hmmm I had wanted to go see them as well in the U.S. but then I didn't for some reason. I don't even have their album actually, but I've seen videos and all that.

I know she did a duet w/ Jarvis Cocker sort of recently though...

That was just "ok" I guess, from both of them. lol

I haven't seen The Gossip recently. If I ever have seen them live, they were opening for some other band like Sleater-Kinney or Le Tigre. I can't remember exactly.

A Beth Ditto thread would not be complete without a pic of her recent NME cover:

You told me you saw them. hmm I remember because I said I wanted to see them when I was in S.F. (which was not very recently I suppose lol ) but then decided not to. You said they weren't that great.

hmmm

I think the conversation was closer to me asking you to tell me how they were and then I'll catch them when they play in NY.

Were we both drinking when this happened? hmm

Noooo..... confuse (not about the drinking, but about the conversation lol ) I distinctly recall you saying that you didn't really like them. I remember bringing them up because I had just seen a video of theirs and asked if you knew them. hmm

Oh wait.... maybe you're right. lol Hell I don't know. drink

I'm so in love with you right now and I don't know why. lol

Was there a subliminal message in your post?

Maybe it's your casual use of drinking emoticons.

The first time i saw her perform i was amazed. id heard of her alot of talk as she kept getting voted in the NME as one of the coolest people on the planet, but the first time i heard her sing and perform i was astounded.

I recently caught their Glastonbury performance and i was mesmorised. The woman is pure entertainment - and i think their music lives up to her persona too. Definitely one of my favourite current bands. i think she's a great role model for young girls too.
