It has nothing to do with race. It's not about black pass or white pass There's a lot of black singers who can't sing soul music either.

Naw Robin's falsetto is 10 times better than Remy's forced falsetto. There's no way I could mistake those two. nWo: bboy87 - Timmy84 - LittleBlueCorvette - MuthaFunka - phunkdaddy - Christopher

In the studio, maybe (a little better, not ten times better) but live Robin's voice is not strong at all. His riffs are okay but his voice ain't all that and his stage presence is almost non-existent.

joe cocker can sing just as good as any black soul singer (with a little help of my friends)
robert plant from led zeppelin in my opinion can sing much better then black artists he tends to imitate simply red dude's vocal is pure soul...

I'm able to enjoy a good song, even if it's not by a true "soul" singer.Obviously,Robin Thicke is no Al Green, but he still has a very good and very soulful album.Get rid of the damn labels and just enjoy the music!

BlaqueKnight said: dseann said: I don't see it that way. That both artists are white to me is pure coincidence. I enjoyed Remy's album for what it was not because of who made it or what the race of the person was who made it. I enjoyed the music and his voice in relation to the music. In fact it was very Princely at times. I wouldn't have cared if he was Cambodian. Okay, well then why the obscure comparison if there was no factor of race at all? I have a strict policy for respecting honesty over pretense and political correctness. Why compare Robin to an obscure, virtual one-hit wonder? Remy Shand has very little in common with Robin Thicke other than race and the fact that they both do neo-soul. Be honest here. Stevie Wonder can see why the two were compared. Its just like the Robin vs. Jon B or Justin Timberlake vs. Jon B threads. If race were truly irrelevant, then a more fitting comparison would be is Robin Thicke better than Martin Luther or Joe or Musiq Soulchild? or is Remy Shand better than D'Angelo? The comparisons would make more sense. Keep it honest, please. I'm not trying to pick a fight with you or anything, I'm just saying, let's be real about the thread. I didn't start this thread. I only stated my opinion. I'm sticking with it. I see no race issue here, like I asked in another thread and in a previous post in this one, who the fuck is Robin Thicke? I didn't know if he was white, black, green, purple or hazel. Really didn't care. [Edited 7/11/07 7:19am]

Mmmm I dunno because I have not played my Remy cd for ages.
I saw Robin in concert at the Jazz Cafe in London. As regards race there was ALOT of black folk in the audience. His wife is black and beautiful. I think he has a good voice and he sounded like his cd. He is also a nice man to chat too. It gets so salty baby (bittersweet by Lewis Taylor)
