"I had just signed with Def Jam after LA Reid dropped me. He thought about it. He said, 'I think I need to pick you back up.' So I gave him a few months to think about it after he asked me then I finally said yes. Christmas albums bore me  Come on,Patti....you can do better than this! I'd like to see her make a gritty,funky,soulful album again.

Universal needs to put a label together for R&B/Soul artists much like Lost Highway is for country/alt-country/blues/folk/americana artists who have total artistic freedom. Willie Nelson has been on LH for a few years now and the man puts out at least 2-3 albums a year and no one minds...LH includes exciting new aritsts of the genre as well as seasoned vets who dont fit into any one category like Willie Nelson, Lucinda Williams, and Ryan Adams... ...
