Donna Summer, sex goddess of disco

I have re listened to "I love to love you baby" by Donna Summer long version. The thing about it is that its so good. She had a great voice and its a perfect example of sex on wax. I think I know where Prince was getting it from. And then right up to 79 she puts out one sexy disco after another. Songs like, I feel love, Spring Affair, Could this be magic, Hot Stuff, Bad Girls and Macarthur Park are classics cool And I don't care if anyone hates them because they are disco. This was amazing stuff. Her voice was beyond amazing and boy could she project. This woman seriously is a forgotten godess. Say you holla if u love her.

And yes I know she went crazy in the 80s with her Christianity and anti gay remarks, but it is a time 2 forgive and 4get.

She must have loved god so much, and she was known for putting her foot in her mouth. Thees rumours too that she was on drugs in the 70s and 80s as well.

SoulAlive

my top 10 Donna Summer songs...

"Bad Girls" (1979)---arguably,the greatest disco song of all
"Heaven Knows" (1978)
"Could It Be Magic" (1976)
"Take Me" (1977)
"One Night In A Lifetime" (1979)
"Spring Affair" (1976)
"Dim All The Lights" (1979)
"Come With Me" (1976)
"Now I Need You" (1977)
---from the trippy 'Once Upon A Time' album. The way this song segues into "Working The Midnight Shift" is really eerie....
"Try Me,I Know We Can Make It" (live version) (1978)---I'm not talking about the boring 1976 version,I'm talking about the relentless live version that appears on her 1978 'Live And More' album. Many of Donna's early songs were really slow and didn't really display her true vocal talents. On her live album, she transformed these songs into faster, vibrant live versions that put the regular versions to shame.

One of the bestest, most sexiest songs ever! I cannot listen to this song enough. Summer 1993 I listened to Love to Love You Baby, A Love Trilogy, Four Seasons of Love and I Remember Yesterday pretty much non-freakin-stop!! It was the gayest. Those albums are magic to me. Magic, I tell ya!

Yeah, Donna still looks good. One of my extra queeny coworkers (queenier even than I!) came over and saw my Donna Summer poster in my cube. He said he's seen her twice in concert and that she was "Fabulous! She really porked out though. She has just let herself go." The mo fo that said it weighs about 350 and looks like Parco, P.I. from Court TV. confused

i think she said something similar but the media twisted it.

i think what happened to her and the Coors boycott showed the power of the Pink dollar.

Thank you! smile I cannot listened to the single version of that song. I need alllll that mess. I wanna make it, and I want her to try me. I don't like the live version. It's sped up too much. I like the slow groove of it much better. It's more sultry.

I think SoulAlive and myself have professed the most love for Donna from our childhood on up. I fucking loved Donna when I was a kid and like David said, she still looks good. In some ways, BETTER than she did in the 70's. But yeah, her hits from 75 to 79 were monsterous. Bad Girls album is basically as rock as she was able to get and STILL remain mainstream. Man she looked sooo good during that period. I remember seeing her on the American Music Awards performing Bad Girls. Damn....And please let's not forget her role in the classic "Thank God It's Friday". The movie is off the hook. Serious memories.

The original,17-minute version of "Try Me,I Know We Can Make It" bores me bored It's just too long and repetitive, with not alot of great ideas. It's as if they were trying to duplicate what they did with "Love To Love You,Baby".Plus, the vocals are weak. They should have shortened it to five minutes and added two more really great songs.

The live version,on the other hand,is amazing headbang Fast and relentless, with much more powerful vocals....

it's a magical mystical night....anything could happen...and you know you're also on a live recording

lol

Donna has vehemently denied making those remarks and has even sued a magazine that claimed she said those things.
