The Beach Boys-Who likes them? Ahhh, the PERFECT group for the summer days, I just can't stop listening them; great voices, gorgeous melodies, catchy rock n' roll songs, charming ballads, heartfelt lyrics... Pet Sounds must be the best album of the 60's, hands down (Sgt who?, Highway 61 what??)=
God bless you, Brian Wilson; we love you [Edited 7/6/07 17:19pm]

i've never been able to stomach anything other than Good Vibrations and God Only Knows, but those 2 are phenomenal.

Perfect song, isn't it? I really love the early singles, overall I actuall prefer the late 60s - early 70s era: Surf's Up 20/20 and my all-time favourite Sunflower:

Glorious, timeless pop. Brian Wilson was a genius.
'Pet Sounds' is one of the best albums ever, and the completed 'Smile' is imo up there with 'Sgt Pepper' as one of the true masterpieces to come out of '60s pop music, but 'Smile' has better melodies. They also made a number of other very fine albums up until 1970, such as 'Beach Boys Today!', 'Summer Days (and Summer Nights!)', 'Friends' and 'Sunflower'.

I do In my book, you can't beat the Beach Boys for summer music.
I was lucky enough to catch the Beach Boys (Mike Love etc) on tour a few year's back when a friend kindly donated his tickets. They really put on a great show and I got into a lot of their album tracks after that gig. I have to admit though I admire the songwriting genius of Brian Wilson, I thought his performance at Glastonbury the following summer paled in comparison to Mike Love and the current line-up of the Beach Boys. Brian forgot the words to the songs he wrote, his vocals were all over the place and he looked like he was tripping - a pretty poor show! Aside from that, I prefer their late 60s output because some of the surf rock hits are a bit tenuous - don't get me wrong, I love Surfin' USA but Surfin' Safari is a bit too much for my liking! Really recommend Surfer Girl though and In My Room, which was featured on a TV ad in the UK a few years ago. I also think their christmas hit Little Saint Nick is really underrated.

The Beach Boys is pure barbershop quartet meets rock aural bliss. Brian Wilson was/is the man.
"Don't Worry Baby" has to be THE ballad of that whole generation - surf, sun, fast cars and chicks. My author page: https://www.amazon.com/au...eretttruth

I've never been a big fan of the Beach Boys, but they do have a few songs that I have. However, this morning I caught a biography of Brian Wilson, and I NEVER would have guessed that he had so many problems. I was shocked to learn this. When I think of them, I think of California Girls and Wouldn't It Be Nice, which are the farthest from sad songs. But I LOVE God Only Knows.
