what r the advantages of the TOUCH over the iphone!
**you can install zillion programs on it iphone wont let u install any programs
** u can add more flash memory as the price continues to fall!
**It will probabaly cost alot less then the iphone! most likely it will be released on T-mobile ( which can also be a con since i dont really want T-mobile)but T-mobile has a history of giving phone for free like the HTC Dash.phone. This might cost you about $150 intially but u know it will be free in a few months
** iphone doesnt come with any chat programs(no msn yahoo or aol) i guess they dont want u to use the free sms from yahoo. on the Touch its preinstalled
** i think u can only play video on iphone from the apple store( thats how it is with the itv that apple has) so u have a pretty limited collection and the video files r generally bigger! With the touch u can compress 1hr of video file to a mere 100MB which means u can fit 80hrs of video on 8GB ( thats alot of dvds) and the compression software is a freeware too!


Let me give u the advantage of the Touch vs iphone when u travel outside (say u go to europe) Your iphone will be only good for email and suring the web!

while a Touch u can install european maps! you can install a translator to most languages. you can install voip calls using things like skype or other cheap voip service! You can call anywhere in the world without payin for roaming! but of course have to first find a wifi hotspot but its becomign increasingly common


Even when u r in the us and u r runnin short on ur mins u can use skype to call locally using ur phone during peak hrs!

You can add tons of games on the Touch too

I dont think there is much of a difference how iphone and the touch work but Touch has many more abilities which apple has closed down on!

one main disadvantage of the touch is that the screen is only 2.8in while the iphone is 3.5in

BTW HTC is the same company which was behind the most popular dell axim poketpc

These things are great for all the technophiles out there but I have an iPod and a pda and a laptop and a digital camera. Why do I need to have all of these items again but on one unit? If the iPhone or the Touch were to break, I'd be out of all of the above, no?

Everything will be obsolete in a few years, things are moving so fast, AND not in the USA mind you, the technology we have is already OLD compared to overseas. Very soon im sure it will possible to not even have to go to a concert anymore, you can watch the thing live on your phone probably and then of course im sure there will be some new thing where U can actually put yourself in a music video and interact with the artists themselves, little by little there will be no need for any human interaction anymore.

I finally got hold of an iphone! I went to the apple store in san jose! one of the closest stores to the apple HQ!

its very thin! i was carryin my 3yr old dell axim pda with me which has similar functionality as the iphone but is alot bigger then it! but alot happens in 3yrs

I tried to open utube on the iphone it didnt work but i didnt mess around it much!


The keyboard on the iphone is alot better then on the Touch phone on the video! but u can install the spb kb and u would get the same size kb as the iphone. I usually never use a kb unless i need absolute accuracy for like passwords otherwise for msgin i just scribble and it gets converted to text! i dont think u can scribble on the iphone

The picture viewer of the iphone is very good but is no different then the ACDsee picture viewer i have been using for the past 3yrs on my pda!

most smartphones come with a windows media player ( i think its horrible) i use the VLC or the core media player which r really very good and both can be downloaded for free!
VLC can play pretty much any format u can think of including apples imov and flv flies u can download from utube! so its gon to be better then any video player that apple will have! the core is full screen and the forwardin and rewindin is so easy too i think its better thenanything u would find on iphone

the bottom line

The iphone comes intergrated with alot of already good applications which u cant change or add new applications!

A smart phone comes with some standard applications in most cases not the best but its easy to get applications online for free which match the applications on the iphone and u can add alot of other features which u will never be able to add to the iphone!
