I'm so glad that they ended up with the cover they did. The cover truly sells the album and makes a good sequel to the Thriller cover.
I LOVE this album. The title track may be my favorite song of the 80's. Michael was the coolest thing on the planet when BAD came out.

Michael's Thriller is still THE biggest selling album ever WORLDWIDE. 3. Right after Thriller, Bad used to be THE SECOND biggest selling album ever AROUND the world. But Kenny G's Breathless & Shania Twain's Come On Over has already taken the second place spot since that time. I've never even heard a claim for Kenny G selling over 30m. He's even worse than The Eagles in that he's pretty much nothing outside the USA. Alanis Morissette's Jagged Little Pill and The Bodyguard soundtrack both did over 30m though. These days AC/DC's Back In Black is often quoted as #2 of all time worldwide although I've yet to see a roper breakdown. The Eagles' world sales aren't all that much more than the American figure. That 70s Greatest Hits album isn't even the one that sells for them globally. 1. I forgot about Whitney Houston's Bodyguard. THAT album was a huge sale. 2. Alanis' Jagged Little Pill did sell millions. But 30 million? I'm not sure about that. But I'll research for more info. 3. THIS Kenny G album is consider the biggest selling "jazz" album of all time (It stay on Billboard's Top 200 album charts for more than 2 years, plus stay with the Top 20 jazz album chart for damn nearly TWICE as long!!! ), no thanks to the fact that it's the smooth jazz style being package as a pure pop album:

I JUST CAN'T STOP LOVING YOU written by Michael Jackson Recorded in 1987 with Quincy Jones protege Siedah Garrett after Whitney Houston and Barbra Streisand turned the song down. It was later edited from later pressings from the album and compilations. Anyone know why?

I remember seeing it a few years ago and just laughing hysterically. I know it wasn't meant to be funny but the whole scene with the gangs in the beginning was funny to me for some reason. I love the shorter version. Great video, very memorable. The only song from that album that had a better video was "Smooth Criminal". Really? Those are two of my favorites. I agree. Album has dated alot, but I love the sound of "bad". As I said before, "speed demon" is a fucking monster. For 1987, nobody was using digital sampling like that cut (paul hardcastle and art of noise were but usually in mono, not stereo). That song musta cost a hell of alot back then. Just for drum programming alone, track is a killer and ahead of its time. Then u have the inx's like guitar riff, the midi sax solo (a synth immitating a real sax LOL), the mixing the synclavier with real percussion etc... track is amazing. That cut alone was head and shoulders above anything else production wise at the time. And "Speed demon" still sounds fantastic today. Even album tracks like "just good friends" are so dense and so deep in synths and drum programming, its impossible for me, not to love it. But that is the exact reason why people hate the album in general. People hate the production, and that album is all about what was then state of the art sounds. Other highlights are the supreme multitracked vocals in "leave me alone" (listen to the chorus), the solo in "bad", the guitar motobike effect on "speed demon" etc... I friggin; love the album from a production standpoint. Still nothing sounds like it today, whilst tracks on "thriller", in my view, do sound worse ("baby be mine" "girl is mine" "PYT"). Hear "bad" over good headphones, its amazing.

BAD 20 PART FIVE MAN IN THE MIRROR
written by Glen Ballard and Siedah Garrett One of Michael's most memorable singles Written in late 1986 when Quincy and Michael felt the album needed an anthem with a positve message. At the time, Quincy's publishing company so one Thursday, he had some of the writers come over to his house to discuss the concept. That following Sunday, Siedah Garrett, who worked with Ballard, stopped by his house with the song. The song was written in 2 hours The first short film, which didn't feature Michael, blended clips of current clips of the 1980s along with clips of historic figures The second version, featured on the 1988 movie "Moonwalker". blends clips of various performances on the Bad Tour Performed on the 1988 Grammy Awards with the Andrae Crouch choir. Also performed on the 1988-89 legs of the Bad World Tour michael in 1986 recording the album Hot 100-#1 R&B-#1 Single Sales-#1 Single Airplay-#1 Canada-#6 UK-#21 Australia-#39 Austria-#10 Belgium-#11 Denmark-#16 Finland-? Though the album is faultless next to most artists records I have heard, my favs are
"Bad" "The Way You Make Me Feel" "Speed Demon" "Liberian Girl" "Just Good Friends" "Another Part of Me" "Man In The Mirror" "I Just Can't Stop Loving You" "Dirty Diana" "Smooth Criminal" "Leave Me Alone" And seriously, "just good friends" would be in my top 5 fav Michael Jackson cuts. I love that song to death.

That song is a zillion times better then "the girl is mine" (which is also MOR Jackson style). One thing I like about "i just cant stop loving you" is that it is not a power ballad and Michael (or Quincy) keeps the production simple and lets his vocals shine out front. Shame Michael cant write these simple, nice love songs anymore

BAD PART SIX- DIRTY DIANA
DIRTY DIANA written by Michael Jackson somewhat the hard rock version of 1982's "Billie Jean", it was cited as Michael's favorite song on the album. Guitarist Steve Stevens, Billy Idol's lead guitarist, made a special appearance on the song and in the 1988 video The fifth single and fifth to hit #1 on the Hot 100, giving the album a record 5 #1 singles, a record that has yet to be broken. also charted at #5 on the R&B charts and #4 in the UK. It was Michael's first live video. Filmed in Long Beach California by Joe Pytka and premiered on April 14, 1988, while Michael was performing in Atlanta Georgia at the Omni during the USA leg of the Bad Tour. Various performances of the song were aired on TV from the tour in Kansas City, New York City, and Rome. Quincy Jones likened the song to an uptempo version of Roberta Flack's Killing Me Softly and liked how the theatrics in the song. In 2003, Jones also said it was "one of those songs you just can't mess up because you can feel it's coming from a deep place in his life." Ben Liebrand's remix of the song includes samples of the 1981 live version of Rock With You, Beat It and State of Shock. It sounds like Mike and Stevie are having fun on this track(much better than then duets Mike did with Paul) and its probably the best pop vocal I've heard from both artists. Plus the music is perfectly arranged. classic At this point in history, we have a choice to make

BAD 20 PART SEVEN- ANOTHER PART OF ME

I think the song is about groupies and golddiggers but is it also a dig at Diana Ross? It could've been, but I'm not unsure. Knowing Michael was kinda pissed at her at the time. It's also been rumored that the girl in the video was a swipe at Tatiana Thumbtzen. She and Michael were really into each other but when they kissed on stage, Frank Dileo and others fired her from the tour because they didn't want her to get close to MJ "We may deify or demonize them but not ignore them.
