Is there nay story about why the spoken intro was taken off the song.
It had it when I had the album on vinyl back in 87.

But I had to get the cd, to get Leave Me Alone.

I remember when the long-form Bad video with the then unknown Wesley Snipes and Roberta Flack first premiered on MTV, Me, my family, and friends were dumbfounded. I mean, we were in awe. Michael looked like a whole new person and we were beginning to think that whoever starred as Mike in the video was a complete impostor of some sort and a big joke. We also thought that his skin change at this point was just a way to push the anticipation of his then-new album, Bad and make it sell even more than Off The Wall and Thriller combined. I guess me and my folks were just thinkin' too much back in the day!

I still listen to Liberian Girl. I think Bad was a decent album.
Some people think I'm kinda cute
But that don't compute when it comes 2 Y-O-U.

Bad was a good album, but it disappointed me when I first heard the album. Thriller was such a tough act to follow and Bad kinda seemed repetitive in ways. I still think Mike upped the ante once again when he did Dangerous because it sound updated and fresh. Bad was just Thriller reloaded without the new wave formula, but with harder rock styles and a slicker pop/dance approach. Bad isn't one of his best, but it was an impressive one!

1. The Eagles Greatest Hits is THE biggest selling album ever WITHIN the USA. It beat out Thriller by exactly 1.2 million as of late.

2. Michael's Thriller is still THE biggest selling album ever WORLDWIDE.

3. Right after Thriller, Bad used to be THE SECOND biggest selling album ever AROUND the world. But Kenny G's Breathless & Shania Twain's Come On Over has already taken the second place spot since that time.

Tell me about it. I still loved Michael back then, but even I had to admit that by then the surgery had gone too, too far, anyone with eyes could tell that face was heading for disaster. His current fans, however, think he looked his best around that era wink

I was really disappointed with the Bad album, like his new face the music sounded contrieved. However, I think the Smooth Criminal video was great and Man in The Mirror is a classic.

I remember the 1988 Grammy Awards and how Mike reacted to the fact he didn't win anything. Michael was so pissed because he felt that he should've won for every Grammy including Album Of The Year. It seemed that the Grammys only focused on U2 that year. Michael was up for four nominations that year including Record Of The Year and Album of The Year and he came home with nothing. To this day, I still think that Prince's Sign O The Times should have won for Album of The Year!

I remember watching that tape and U2 kinda made fun of him after he performed. I felt Bad and Sign o The Times should've won, but I'm biased wink

BAD 20 Part 3- BAD

BAD

written by Michael Jackson

the title track of the album

Originally intended as a duet with Prince
"Prince was excited to have been asked" said Susan Rogers in Prince Bio "DMSR", "But he said to me,
'I just don't do that stuff' and I think he felt Michael was going to make himself look better.
The idea for the video was to have the two megastars take turns singing and dancing, in order to determine who was
the "baddest".
The entire idea fell through so Michael recorded it alone. Before the song was complete
with lyrics, The working track was titled "Pee", then became "Who's Bad", then "BAD"

The short film was loosely based on the story of Edmund Perry, a young black man shot to death when
he returned home to Harlem New York from a private college.

The short film was shot in late 1986(months before the album was completed) was directed by legendary
director Martin Scorsese and co-starred a young and then unknown Wesley Snipes.
It was shot in Harlem New York and was the first film shot for the BAD project.
It premiered in August 31, 1987 during the
CBS TV special "The Magic Returns".

The second single from the Bad album. Peaked at #1 on the Hot 100 for 7 weeks, #1 on the R&B charts
for 3 weeks. Charted at #3 in the UK.

Performed on the 1987-89 Bad World Tour, and on some of the first dates on the 1992-93 Dangerous Tour

Bad has dated horribly. The production sounds mechanical and clunky and songs like Speed Demon and Just Good Friends are just poor filler.

Wow, you can say that again! That was the main thing that disappointed me among the release of Bad back in '87. Unlike Off The Wall and Thriller, which had more organic and soulful productions, Bad sounded like Mike and Quincy began chasing trends instead of innovating them. I couldn't believe Quincy started using those cheeky synthesizers and the overtly used MIDI. I can't even listen to songs like Speed Demon or Leave Me Alone anymore because it makes me throw up in my own mouth.

I've never even heard a claim for Kenny G selling over 30m. He's even worse than The Eagles in that he's pretty much nothing outside the USA. Alanis Morissette's Jagged Little Pill and The Bodyguard soundtrack both did over 30m though.

These days AC/DC's Back In Black is often quoted as #2 of all time worldwide although I've yet to see a roper breakdown. The Eagles' world sales aren't all that much more than the American figure. That 70s Greatest Hits album isn't even the one that sells for them globally.

Well the productions on those two songs are dated and in my opinion, they bog the album down. The other ones are great in my book...
