The #1 R&B Song 17 Years Ago This Week (1990)

Tomorrow (A Better You, Better Me) - Quincy Jones featuring Tevin Campbell

This song was Tevin's debut. Originally a Brothers Johnson instrumental, Siedah Garrett added the words for this album.

I couldn't find the video, but you can listen here: http://www.youtube.com/wa...1GEaG0SX_U

Song reminds me of Seseme Street. Youthfulness, naivety, blue skies. Its quite charming. I know everyone says it, but he does remind me of a young Jacko somewhat on this cut. He found his own voice later on though

I remember how Tevin Campbell was look up to by critics as "The Next Michael Jackson" because of this excellent song.

Sadly, Tevin never blew up as big as Usher would a couple of year later.

"call me the mack" LOL. I still got Ushers first video. That song is horrible. Tevin was doing real music at that time.

Oh, they remade 'Tomorrow'? confuse
Never even heard of this version... might be cause it was released in the nineties lol
It is not known why FuNkeNsteiN capitalizes his name as he does, though some speculate sunlight deficiency caused by the most pimpified white guy afro in Nordic history.

I remember when Usher's first album came out, NOBODY had it lol You couldn't take him seriously(matter of fact, u still can't), but everybody loved Tevin, UNTIL he started rockin' those braids and the rumors started.....

I remember always thinking "Quincy Jones isn't even singing on the album, how is this HIS album?" I was puzzled why he was in the "Secret Garden" video just snapping his fingers lol

lol Usher's mom and I are like the only two people who like "Call Me a Mack." I think it's good fun. I've been convinced since Day 1 that the line "'cause I ain't confused" is a dig at Tevin (who had a single called "Confused"). Anyway, Tevin was much bigger than Usher until "You Make Me Wanna" blew up in '97.

wave I did! I still don't understand how "Can U Get Wit It" wasn't a huge hit. Devante did his thing on that one. I also liked the other singles ("Think of You" and "The Many Ways") and a few album tracks. It was an OK album.

Duke Ellington or Miles Davis didn't sing on their albums either smile

nod Never been a fan of "One Song."

"Tomorrow" was the first of Tevin's 9 top-10 singles (4 of which reached #1). Looking back, was there anyone who worked with more famous songwriters and producers? Quincy Jones, Prince, Babyface, Narada Michael Walden, Al B. Sure!, D'Angelo, Brian McKnight...

I actually have his first 3 albums but I prefer "I'm Ready" over the other two...

I think T.E.V.I.N. might be more consistent, but the good stuff on I'm Ready is stellar. The title track is my favorite from him.

TEVIN was an amazing vocalist as a child. Even better than Stevie or MJ.

But as he became an adult his voice turned more common and dull unlike Stevie and MJ who dramatically improved...

I loved that album also. I really loved "Call Me A Mack" from the Poetic Justice Soundtrack. I also loved "Think of U".

I love his voice, in fact I think the music he was doing was way too simple for a voice like that despite working with prince & quincy jones.

and I finally found someone who knows and likes call me a mack! People call themselves usher fans and don't care for anything he's done before, it's weird

It also underscores the reason why Tevin Campbell's career turned out the way he did -- he had no distinctive style on his own, but was a product of his producers. When Quincy Jones produced him on "Tomorrow," he channeled Michael Jackson. When Prince produced him, he sounded like Prince. Al B. Sure!, Babyface, etc.
THE TRAFFIC JAMMERS, The Org's house band: VAINANDY -- lead singer; NAJEE -- bass; THE AUDIENCE -- guitar; PHUNKDADDY -- rhythm guitar; ALEX de PARIS -- keyboards; Da PRETTYMAN -- keyboards; FUNKENSTEIN -- drums. HOLD ON TO YOUR DRAWERS!

his voice changed in worse as he became an adult.

Tevin used to sound better when he was younger. His adult voice sounds to nasal and gayish.
